Scripture reading for August 4th: Isaiah 25-28
Key Scriptures: Isaiah 25:7-9 “On this mountain He will destroy the shroud that enfolds all peoples, the sheet that covers all nations; He will swallow up death forever. The Sovereign Lord will wipe away the tears from all faces; He will remove the disgrace of His people from all the earth. The Lord Has spoken. In that day they will say, “Surely this is our God; we trusted in Him and He saved us. This is the Lord, we trusted in Him; let us rejoice and be glad in His salvation.”
Isaiah’s awesome prophesy about our Lord swallowing up death forever has been fulfilled by the death, burial, and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ! We now have the tears and disgrace of death because of our sins wiped away. This is available to all who believe in Jesus Christ! Those who trust in Him know for sure that they are God’s children and rejoice in His salvation!
Rejoice in victory over death: “Listen, I tell you a mystery: We will not all sleep, but we will all be changed–in a flash, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed. . . . When the perishable has been clothed with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality, then the saying that is written will come true: “Death has been swallowed up in victory.” (1st Corinthians 15:51-52, 54)
