Rejoice in King Jesus!
Scripture reading for March 16th: 1st Samuel 6-10
Key Scriptures: 1st Samuel 8:4-7 “So all the elders of Israel gathered together and came to Samuel at Ramah. They said to him, “You are old, and your sons do not walk in your ways; now appoint a king to lead us, such as all the other nations have.” But when they said, “Give us a king to lead us,” this displeased Samuel; so he prayed to the Lord. And the Lord told him: “Listen to all that the people are saying to you; for it is not you they have rejected, but they have rejected Me as their king.”
God’s people wanted a king in order to be like the other nations. They rejected God as their King and wanted to be like the world. They came to Samuel, the prophet of God and judge to make their request. Samuel prayed and God answered!
Rejoicing in our King: Jesus Christ has been revealed to believers in the New Covenant as King of Kings! “Then I heard what sounded like a great multitude, like the roar of rushing waters and like loud peals of thunder, shouting: “Hallelujah! For our Lord God Almighty reigns. Let us rejoice and be glad and give Him glory!” (Revelation 19:6-7)
