Joyfully expecting a season of singing!
Scripture reading for July 26th: Song of Songs 1-5
Key Scriptures: Song of Songs 2:10-13 “My lover spoke and said to me, “Arise, my darling, my beautiful one, and come with me. See! The winter is past; the rains are over and gone. Flowers appear on the earth; the season of singing has come, the cooing of doves is heard in our land.”
Solomon’s love story concerned his bride and her account of his proposal to come away with him. It was a new season of love and the earth was in an amazing renewal. Joy was in the air as singing burst forth from all creation and the doves of peace told of their love and called all to peace and joy! This story is a metaphor for another love story of a Bridegroom who will come for His Bride, the Church. It will be a time of joyous celebration and a season of singing like no other in the history of the world!
The “catching away” will bring singing: “According to the Lord’s own word, we tell you that we who are still alive, who are left till the coming of the Lord, will certainly not precede those who have fallen asleep. For the Lord Himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever.” (1st Thessalonians 4:15-17)
