Abiding in Christ’s Love and Word
Scripture reading for April 25th: John 15, Psalm 83, Proverbs 21
Key Scriptures: John 15:7-11 “If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. By this My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit and prove to be My disciples. As the Father has loved Me, so have I loved you. Abide in My love. If you keep My commandments, you will abide in My love, just as I have kept My Father’s commandments and abide in His love. These things I have spoken to you, that My joy may be in you, and that your joy may be full.”
Jesus encouraged His disciples with a parable of a vine and its branches and ability to produce fruit. Jesus was the vine and His disciples were the branches. The Father was the vine-dresser. The sap in the vine was God’s word. Each disciple must abide in the vine and be filled with the sap in order to produce fruit. Abiding meant a close relationship of love and faith that asked for needs and claimed God’s word in faith. All fruit is to His glory!
Faith Confession: I am abiding in Jesus Christ, God’s Son, and allowing the Word of God to abide in me and resting in His love. I ask Him for what I need and expect to receive in order to produce fruit.
Proverbs 21:20 “Precious treasure and oil are in a wise man’s dwelling, but a foolish man devours it.”
