Love is Supreme!
Scripture reading for July 23rd: 1st Corinthians 13, Psalm 146, Proverbs 22
Key Scriptures: 1st Corinthians 13:4-8 “Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never ends. . . .”
As Paul writes to the Corinthians about the gifts of the Holy Spirit, he adds this special word concerning love. The love that Paul speaks of is God’s amazing love given to believers as a fruit of the Holy Spirit indwelling them. This love is patient and kind not arrogant or boastful. It rejoices in truth and goodness. This love is not pushy, irritable or resentful. It bears all things and believes all things. Grounded in hope, it never fails or ends but confidently waits for God’s Word to come to pass.
Faith Confession: Lord, thank You for Your amazing love, shed abroad in my heart by the Holy Spirit empowering me to live and act in the manner of Jesus Christ.
Psalm 146: 4-7 “Blessed is he whose help is the God of Jacob, whose hope is in the Lord his God, who made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that is in them, who keeps faith forever; who executes justice for the oppressed, who gives food to the hungry.”
