Ask God for Wisdom!
Scripture reading for October 31st: James 1, Psalm 68, Proverbs 2
Key Scriptures: James 1:5-8 “If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him. But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for one who doubts is like a wave of the sea that is driven and tossed by the wind. For that person must not suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord; he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.”
James was the half-brother of Jesus Christ and pastor of the church at Jerusalem. He was known as a man of prayer. He opens his letter encouraging the church to count it all joy when they have trials and tests in their lives. This testing will be of their faith and should produce the spiritual fruit of patience. If wisdom is needed concerning the test of faith, prayer is the simple antidote. But any asking of God must be in faith, not doubting God will answer. Doubting is double-mindedness and that produces nothing but fear and unbelief.
Faith Confession: I thank God for the trials of my faith that have produced patience in my life. I ask God for wisdom and understanding to walk through the trials and stay single-minded in trust of Him and His unchanging Word.
Proverbs 2:6-7 “For the Lord gives wisdom; from His mouth come knowledge and understanding; He stores up sound wisdom for the upright; He is a shield to those who walk in integrity, . . “
