The power of prayer!
Scripture reading for November 6th: James 5, Psalm 72, Proverbs 6
Key Scriptures: James 5:14-16 “Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the Name of the Lord. And the prayer of faith will save the one who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up. And if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven. Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working.”
James was the pastor at Jerusalem and the half-brother of Jesus. His nick-name was “old camel-knees” because of time spent in prayer. His instruction to the sick in the church was simple. Call for the praying elders and they will anoint with oil and pray a prayer of faith. The sick person was to confess any sins that were in their lives and repent as well. The promise was healing. Prayers of righteous men and women have great power and are working to bring results desired.
Faith Confession: I believe in the power of prayer and am thankful I have been declared ‘righteous’ by the sacrifice of Jesus Christ. I seek to pray for those who are sick, along with other mature believers, and trust God for results. Prayer works!
Proverbs 6:20-22 “My son, keep your father’s commandment and forsake not your mother’s teaching. Bind them on your heart always; tie them around your neck. When you walk, they will lead you; when you lie down, they will watch over you; when you awake, they will talk with you.”
