The Living God Who Speaks
Scripture reading for January 17th: Genesis 30-31, Mark 12, Psalm 11
Key Scriptures: Mark 12:26-27 “”And as for the dead being raised, have you not read in the book of Moses, in the passage about the bush, how God spoke to him, saying, ‘I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob’? He is not God of the dead, but of the living. You are quite wrong.””
Genesis 31:11-13 “Then the angel of God said to me in the dream, ‘Jacob’, and I said, “Here I am!’ And he said, ‘Lift up your eyes and see, all the goats that mate with the flock are striped, spotted, and mottled, for I have seen all that Laban is doing to you. I am the God of Bethel, where you anointed a pillar and made a vow to Me. Now arise, go out from this land and return to the land of your kindred.'”
The carnal mind, even religious mind, has an impossible dilemma in believing the truths of Scripture. The Bible declares that God is, He was, and He is to come. He is ever alive and present with His people and able to speak to them when they are humble enough to listen. The Sadducees were a religious sect of Israel that would not believe in the supernatural. They denied a future life and only embraced the books of Moses. Jesus rebuked them from the book they claimed to believe!
Faith Confession and prayer: Lord, thank You for speaking to Your people and giving rebuke to those who hold false beliefs. Help me to walk with You today and speak to me from Your Word. I long to see Your face!
Psalm 11:7 “For the Lord is righteous; He loves righteous deeds; the upright shall behold His face.”
