The source of Eternal Salvation!
Scripture reading for August 12th: Hebrews 5
Key Scriptures: Hebrews 5: 7-10 “In the days of His flesh, Jesus offered up prayers and supplications with loud cries and tears, to Him Who was able to save Him from death, and He was heard because of His reverence. Although he was a son, he learned obedience through what he suffered. And being made perfect, he became the source of eternal salvation to all who obey Him, being designated by God a high priest after the order of Melchizedek.”
Jesus came to earth as a man in human flesh. He was born of a virgin and had a human body like our bodies. He lived a sinless life in perfect obedience to the Father. He relied on the Holy Spirit and prayed regularly submitting Himself to the Father’s will and plan. In the Garden of Gethsemane, Jesus sweat drops of blood and cried out to God with loud cries and tears. God heard His prayers and yet allowed Him to die as They had planned to bring many sons to glory. Even Jesus learned obedience through suffering. “Not My will, but Your will be done” was His cry of submission! Because of His perfect obedience, He was raised from the dead by the Spirit of Holiness and is now the source of eternal salvation to all who believe on Him. He can save us because, like Melchizedek, priest of God Most High and King of Salem, with no record of beginning or ending, He lives forever to intercede for us! He is King of Kings and our High Priest!
Hebrews 4:15 “For we do not have a high priest Who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but One Who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin.”
Faith confession and prayer: Father God, thank You for sending Your only Son to live on earth as a man and perfectly obey Your will, conquering sin and death and the grave! Thank You for an eternal salvation and an eternal Priest who as able to eternally save us! Use me to share this Good News!
Genesis 14:18-20 “And Melchizedek king of Salem brought out bread and wine. (He was priest of God Most High.) And he blessed him and said, “Blessed be Abram by God Most High, Possessor of heaven and earth; and blessed be God Most High, Who has delivered your enemies into your hand!””
