The Father’s priority for us

Scripture reading for July 13th: Luke 12, Psalm 139, Proverbs 15

Luke 12: 27-31 “”Consider the lilies, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin, yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. But if God so clothes the grass, which is alive in the field today, and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, how much more will He clothe you, O you of little faith! And do not seek what you are to eat and what you are to drink, nor be worried. For all the nations of the world seek after these things, and your Father knows that you need them. Instead, seek His kingdom, and these things will be added to you. Fear not, little flock, for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom.””

Fear is a constant companion to those who are not born again. We worry about life and the provision that we need to live and do what we want. Our thoughts and senses tell us that we lack what we need or that we could easily lose even our life and health. Jesus reassures those who have come to Him. Our focus need not be on life’s essentials. Our Father in heaven knows our needs and like the Good Father He is, will supply. Our focus must be on seeking His kingdom and His righteousness. Life’s essentials of food, shelter, and clothing and a compelling vision of the future–eternity, will be given us! These are Jesus’ precious thoughts written down to encourage us on our journey to Father’s House!

Psalm 139:17-18 “How precious to me are Your thoughts, O God! How vast is the sum of them! If I would count them, they are more than the sand. I awake, and I am still with You.”

Prayer: Father God, Your thoughts and Word is precious to me! Your Word expands my vision to see life from a new perspective, that of Your kingdom and rulership. It takes me away from sin and selfishness and fear or want. Help me to live freely trusting You for life’s essentials and generously towards those still living in fear. May Your kingdom come and Your will be done, on earth as in heaven! Amen!

Proverbs 15:11 “Sheol and Abaddon lie open before the Lord; how much more the hearts of the children of man!”
