Thankful for a true prophet!
Scripture reading for March 17th: 1st Samuel 11-14
Key Scriptures: 1st Samuel 12:13-15 “Now here is the king you have chosen, the one you asked for; see, the Lord has set a king over you. If you fear the Lord and serve and obey Him and do not rebel against His commands, if both you and the king who reigns over you follow the Lord your God–good! But if you do not obey the Lord, and if you rebel against His commands, His hand will be against you, as it was against your fathers.”
As a true prophet of the Lord, Samuel faithfully declared God’s word to the people of God. He spoke plainly and truthfully about the king they had asked for. It was in their best interest to obey and serve God. Rebellion would bring God’s hand of discipline!
Thankful for a true Prophet: Jesus Christ spoke plainly about the people’s need to obey him and embrace His word and the consequences of not obeying.
“But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash.” (Matthew 7:26-27)
