Fully Equipped!

Scripture reading for July 7th:  Ecclesiastes 7-9, Psalm 46, 2nd Timothy 3

Key Scriptures:  2nd Timothy 3:12-17 “Indeed, all who desire to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted, while evil people and impostors will go on from bad to worse, deceiving and being deceived.  But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have firmly believed, knowing from whom you learned it and how from childhood you have been acquainted with the sacred writings, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus.  All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.”

Persecution and suffering are part of the package for those who follow Jesus Christ.  Evil and evil people will increase as time goes on to its culmination at the return of Jesus Christ.  God’s workers must continue in the faith and sound preaching of Scripture.  God has “breathed” His Word to equip us for every good work and for correction and training of the next generation of workers.  It is full of God’s Spirit and Life, completely equipping each person for the work God has prepared.

Psalm 46:11  “The Lord of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress.”

Faith confession and prayer:  Lord Jesus, thank You that You are with me and have ‘breathed’ out Your holy Word and equipped me for every good work.  May the evil people hear Your Word and be converted in these last days where evil increases.

Ecclesiastes 9:12  “For man does not know his time.  Like fish that are taken in an evil net, and like birds that are caught in a snare, so the children of man are snared at an evil time, when it suddenly falls upon them.”

Wisdom for salvation and holy living

Scripture reading for October 4th: 2nd Timothy 3, Psalm 49, Proverbs 14

Key Scriptures:  2nd Timothy 3:12-17 “Indeed, all who desire to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted, while evil people and impostors will go on from bad to worse, deceiving and being deceived.  But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have firmly believed, knowing from whom you learned it and how from childhood you have been acquainted with the sacred writings, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Jesus Christ.  All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.”

The last days before Christ’s return would be marked by evil people, impostors and deception.  Godly people would suffer persecution for following Jesus and His Word.  This truth should encourage all believers to follow the truth taught by Holy Scripture and reinforced by those of faith who taught them.  God wants His people complete and equipped for every good work.  It is clear that we are now living in the last days!

Faith confession:  I receive God’s Holy Scriptures, Old and New Testaments, as wisdom for salvation and holy living, equipping me for every good work.  I am thankful for those God has sent into my life to teach and model His Word for me.

Psalm 49:15 “But God will ransom my soul from the power of Sheol, for He will receive me.”  Selah

Pay attention to the Holy Scriptures!

Scripture reading for October 5th:  2nd Timothy 3

Key Scriptures for over-comers:  2nd Timothy 3: 12-17 “In fact, everyone who wants to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted, while evil men and impostors will go from bad to worse, deceiving and being deceived.  But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have become convinced of, because you know those from whom you learned it, and how from infancy you have know the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus.  all Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.”

Paul did not pamper Timothy with smooth words or flattery.  He told him straight out that persecution would follow all who lived a godly life in Christ.  The world would not get progressively better, but would get worse!  This would require a strong commitment to live by faith in the word of God that had been taught by godly believers in Timothy’s life.  The Holy Scriptures provide the sound foundation of faith in Christ Jesus needed to over-come the terrible times of the last day!  They equip the disciple of Jesus to do the good work prepared for them by the Holy Spirit.

Observations for over-comers:  Over-comers esteem God’s word and those godly teachers who instructed them.  “The law of the Lord is perfect, reviving the soul.  The statutes of the Lord are trustworthy, making wise the simple.  The precepts of the Lord are right giving joy to the heart.  The commands of the Lord are radiant, giving light to the eyes.” (Psalm 19:7-8)
