Scripture reading for May 27th: Acts 17
Key Scriptures for over-comers: Acts 17:24-28 “The God who made the world and everything in it is the Lord of heaven and earth and does not live in temples built by hands. And He is not served by human hands, as if He needed anything, because He Himself gives all men life and breath and everything else. From one man He made every nation of men that they should inhabit the whole earth; and He determined the times set for them and the exact places where they should live. God did this so that men would seek Him and perhaps reach out for Him and find Him, though He is not far from each one of us.”
Paul ministered to the intellectuals of Athens by telling them about the God who created the heavens and the earth. He told them about the omnipotence and omniscience of this Creator God, who was very near to each one of us. He also told them that this God had placed each person in the geographical location He desired and given the time allotted for them. Paul said that God did this so that men would seek Him and reach out to Him! These truths are often veiled from unbelievers but can serve to open their hearts to the God who alone is worthy of worship!
Observations for over-comers: Sharing with intellectuals about the One True God will help to open their hearts. Remember that God has already revealed Himself to each person through nature and conscience. “The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of His hands. Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night they display knowledge. There is no speech or language where their voice is not heard. Their voice goes out into all the earth, their words to the ends of the world.” (Psalm 19:1-4)
