One Mediator between God and man

Scripture reading for September 12th: 1st Timothy 2, Psalm 32, Proverbs 27

1st Timothy 2: 1-6 “First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way. This is good, and it is pleasing in the the sight of God our Savior, Who desires all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. For there is one God, and there is one Mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, Who gave Himself as a ransom for all, which is the testimony given at the proper time.”

Prayer is the lifeline for believers! We serve a living God Who is actively listening and talking with His children. Paul encourages the believers to pray for all people, especially for those in positions of authority. Prayer paves the way for a quiet and godly life. God invites us to ask, seek, and knock for the needs we have to spread the Gospel. God desires all people to come to repentance and a knowledge of the truth of His provision for their salvation. God has provided Jesus Christ, His only Son, as the Mediator between God and man. Jesus Christ gave His life on the cross to pay the penalty of all sinners. The Gospel is the testimony of God’s saving provision given to His people to share before the final judgment. Like the days of Noah, God shut the door right before the flood came. Today is the day to act.

Psalm 32:5-6 “I acknowledged my sin to You, and I did not cover my iniquity; I said, “I will confess my transgressions to the Lord,” and You forgave the iniquity of my sin. Therefore let everyone who is godly offer prayer to you at a time when you may be found; surely in the rush of great waters, they shall not reach Him.”

Prayer: Father God, thank You for Your heart to save sinners and to respond to the prayers and intercession of Your people and Your Son, Who is our mediator. Thank You for Your call for us to pray for those in authority and for open doors to share with the lost. I offer myself to You to use to encourage Your Church to pray and to proclaim the Good News that Jesus Christ has come to save sinners!

Proverbs 27:12 “The prudent sees danger and hides himself, but the simple go on and suffer for it.”

Walking in the light!

Scripture reading for November 20th: Ezra 3-4, Psalm 92; 1 John 1

Key Scriptures: 1st John 1:6-10 “If we say we have fellowship with Him while we walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice he truth. But if we walk in the light, as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from all sin. If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His Word is not in us.”

John was the youngest of the disciples when he began following Jesus and wrote his Gospel and these letters to the church when he was older and more mature. He explained to the church that true fellowship with Jesus brought light, truth, and joy into our life and Christ’s Church. We can’t walk in darkness and truly have fellowship with Jesus. We can’t say we have no sin if we are living it it and cover it up and expect forgiveness and peace. We must walk in the light of Jesus’ Word and confess all sins, repenting and turning away from them. The blood of Jesus cleanses us and we can have true fellowship with others cleansed and walking in the light.

Psalm 92:12-13 “The righteous flourish like the palm tree and grow like a cedar in Lebanon. They are planted in the house of the Lord; they flourish in the courts of our God.”

Faith confession and prayer: Lord Jesus, I desire to walk in the Light of Your Word and have true fellowship with You and other disciples. Help me to confess sin and walk in righteousness and truth.

Ezra 3:11 And they sang responsively, praising and giving thanks to the Lord, “For He is good, for His steadfast love endures forever toward Israel.” And all the people shouted with a great shout when they praised the Lord, because the foundation of the house of the Lord was laid.”

Believing the Word: Confessing Christ!

Scripture reading for June 26th:  Romans 10, Psalm 127, Proverbs 3

Key Scriptures:  Romans 10: 8-11 “But what does it say?  “The Word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart” (that is, the Word of faith that we proclaim); because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.  For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved.  For the Scripture says, “Everyone who believes in Him will not be put to shame.””

Faith comes by hearing the Word of God concerning Jesus Christ.  When we choose to put our trust in Jesus and His death and resurrection, faith has entered our heart and with our mouths we confess the truth: “Jesus is Lord.”  Everyone who believes is saved on the level ground of faith.  God is impartial and true to His Word!

Faith confession:  I believe in my heart that Jesus is the Christ, Son of God and that He offered His sinless life on the cross for me and for the sins of all the world.  I believe He died and was buried and rose again the third day.  “Jesus is Lord” is my testimony and confession of my mouth.

Faith Confession:  I believe in the One True God, Jesus Christ, Creator of all mankind and my Creator and Father.  I know there is a day of appointed judgment set by God for all mankind.  Without repentance and faith in Jesus no one can stand at the judgment.

Psalm 3:5-6 “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding.  In all your ways acknowledge Him; and He will make straight your paths.”

Humble confession of Faith!

Scripture reading for April 16th:  John 8, Psalm 76, Proverbs 14

Key Scriptures:  John 8:23-25 “He said to them, “You are from below; I am from above.  You are of this world; I am not of this world.  I told you that you would die in your sins, for unless you believe that I am He you will die in your sins.”  So they said to Him, “Who are you?”  Jesus said to them, “Just what I have been telling you from the beginning.”

Jesus had declared to the Pharisees that He was the “Light of the world.”  They struggled to believe in Him because they were living in the darkness of sin–the sin of unbelief!  Jesus plainly told them that they would die in their sins unless they believed in Him as Messiah.  It is faith in Jesus that alone brings deliverance from death.

Faith Confession:  Jesus, I humbly confess that You are the Son of God, the Light of the world. and the only One who can save me from eternal separation from You.

Psalm 76:8-9 “From the heavens You uttered judgment; the earth feared and was still, when God arose to establish judgment, to save all the humble of the earth.”
