Thankful for God’s Writing!

Scripture reading for February 20th:  Deuteronomy 7-11

Key Scriptures:  Deuteronomy 10:3-5  “So I made the ark out of acacia wood and chiseled out two stone tablets like the first ones, and I went up on the mountain with the two tablets in my hands.  The Lord wrote on these tablets what He had written before, the Ten Commandments He had proclaimed to you on the mountain, out of the fire, on the day of the assembly.  And the Lord gave them to me.  Then I came back down the mountain and put the tablets in the ark. . “

Moses had been given the two tablets with the Ten Commandments that originally God had inscribed during his initial 40 days on the mountain.  On seeing the golden calf and the Israelites in profane worship, he broke the tablets in anger.  Again, Moses prepared two more tablets and God graciously wrote the law and Moses placed these in the Ark of the Covenant.

Thankful for God’s writing:  God wrote on stone tablets in Moses’ day, but now writes His law on the tablets of hearts who believe in His Son, our “Ark”!  “You show that you are a letter from Christ, the result of our ministry, written not with ink, but with the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone but on tablets of human hearts.”  (2 Corinthians 3:3)
