Tag: Deuteronomy 18:15-18
Scripture reading for March 8th: Deuteronomy 18-20, Luke 5
Key Scriptures: Deuteronomy 18:15-18 “”The Lord your God will raise up for you a prophet like me from among you, from your brothers–it is to Him you shall listen–just as you desired of the Lord your God at Horeb on the day of the assembly, when you said,’Let me not hear again the voice of the Lord my God or see this great fire any more, lest I die.'”
Moses was reminding the Israelites just before he was to leave them in Joshua’s hands about what happened at Mt. Sinai forty years earlier. The people had begged Moses to go and hear from God for them and speak to them all that God said. They were so afraid that they might die from God’s presence. Moses told them God would indeed raise up another prophet like him who would speak the Word of God to them. 1500 years later, Jesus walked the earth ministering to the Israelites.
Luke 5:10-11 “. . And Jesus said to Simon, “Do not be afraid; from now on you will be catching men.” And when they had brought their boats to land, they left everything and followed Him.”
Prayer: Lord, thank You for Your fulfilled promise in Jesus Christ! May we hear and follow His daily call and every Word. Amen.
