Tag: Deuteronomy 18:17-19
Scripture reading for February 22nd: Deuteronomy 16-20
Key Scriptures: Deuteronomy 18:17-19 “The Lord said to me: “What they say is good. I will raise up for them a prophet like you from among their brothers; I will put My words in His mouth, and He will tell them everything I command Him. If anyone does not listen to My words that the prophet speaks in My Name, I Myself will call him to account.””
The Israelites were afraid to hear God speak. They asked Moses to go up and listen and come and tell them what God had said. God told Moses that this was a good idea. In fact, God had plans to send another prophet just like Moses from among their own brothers. This “Prophet” would tell them everything God commanded and then they would be accountable to God!
Thankful for Jesus: God sent them this “Prophet” through the line of Judah and David. He said and did exactly the commands of His Father, God! “For Moses said, ‘The Lord your God will raise up for you a prophet like me from among your own people; you must listen to everything He tells you. Anyone who does not listen to Him will be completely cut off from His people.” (Acts 3:22-23)
