“He is risen!”

Scripture reading for May 15th: Matthew 28, Psalm 96, Proverbs 3

Matthew 28: 1-6 “Now after the Sabbath, toward the dawn of the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to see the tomb. And behold, there was a great earthquake, for an angel of the Lord descended from heaven and came and rolled back the stone and sat on it. His appearance was like lightning and his clothing was white as snow. And for fear of him the guards trembled and became like dead men. But the angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you seek Jesus Who was crucified. He is not here, for He has risen, as He said. Come, see the place where He lay.””

Early, on the first day of the week following the crucifixion and burial of Jesus Christ, two women went to the tomb to finish the embalming process and show respect. A great earthquake occurred as they arrived. The stone was rolled back and a shining angel sat on it. The guards assigned by Pilate fell as dead men at the sight and the women stood amazed. The angel spoke comfort to the women and told them that they had come to find the body of Jesus, but He was alive and risen from the dead! They were invited to see the place where His body was laid. Instructions were given for them to tell His disciples He was alive and would meet up with them in Galilee! His instructions to these followers were to go into all the world and share this good news with all peoples! He would work with them! Hallelujah!

Psalm 96:1-3 “”Oh sing to the Lord a new song; sing to the Lord, all the earth! Sing to the Lord, bless His Name; tell of His salvation from day to day. Declare His glory among the nations, His marvelous works among all the peoples!””

Prayer: Father God, thank You for this amazing Truth, the resurrection of Jesus Christ, Your Son, from the dead! Because He lives, I can have hope of eternal life! Because He lives, I can share this amazing truth with all nations and peoples! I sing a new song of joy each day as You are with me and use me and all Your followers to share and demonstrate Your love and resurrection power to those still lost. Amen!

Proverbs 3:19-20 “The Lord by wisdom founded the earth; by understanding He established the heavens; by His knowledge the deeps broke open. and the clouds drop down the dew.”

“It is done!”

Scripture reading for December 22nd: Job 21-23, Psalm 101, Revelation 16

Revelation 16: 17-21 “The seventh angel poured out his bowl into the air, and a loud voice came out of the temple, from the throne, saying, “It is done!” And there were flashes of lighting, rumblings, peals of thunder, and a great earthquake such as there had never been since man was on the earth, so great was that earthquake. The great city was split into three parts, and the cities of the nations fell, and God remembered Babylon the great, to make her drain the cup of the wine of the fury of His wrath. And every island fled away, and no mountains were to be found. And great hailstones, about one hundred pounds each, fell from heaven on people; and they cursed God for the plague of hail, because the plague was so severe.”

The seven angels decked in white pour out the bowls of wrath of God upon the earth. When the seventh angel poured out his bowl on the air, a Voice from the throne cries out, “It is done!”. This reminds us of Jesus Christ Who cried out in His last utterance from the cross, “It is finished!” (John 19:30) Jesus Christ took the final bowl of God’s wrath in His own body on the cross on behalf of lost sinners. He did what no man could do! At His final words from the cross, there was an earthquake and the temple veil was torn from top to bottom. Here, after that pattern, there is a great earthquake that levels al mountains and causes the downfall of all nations and earthly kingdoms. From the tabernacle in heaven these final bowls of wrath bring the just judgements of God upon the unrepentant of earth. If only they looked to Jesus in faith!

Psalm 101:1-3 “I will sing of steadfast love and justice; to You, O Lord, I will make music. I will ponder the way that is blameless. O when will You come to me? I will walk with integrity of heart within my house; I will not set before my eyes anything that is worthless. I hate the work of those who fall away; it shall not cling to me.”

Prayer: Father God, I sing today of Your steadfast love and justice! Your way is blameless and Your amazing Word is eternal Truth! Your Word in Jesus has brought mercy to me and others who humbly believe. You will in righteousness judge those on earth who have rejected Your offer of mercy and eternal life. Open doors for me today to share the Good News of Your steadfast love and justice in Jesus Christ.

Job 23:12-14 “I have not departed from the commandment of His lips; I have treasured the Words of His mouth more than my portion of food. But He is unchangeable, and who can turn Him back? What He desires, that He does. For He will complete what He appoints for me, and many such things are in His mind.”
