Thankful for a Powerful Savior!
Scripture reading for October 18th: Matthew 17-20
Key Scriptures: Matthew 17:18-21 “Jesus rebuked the demon, and it came out of the boy, and he was healed from that moment. Then the disciples came to Jesus in private and asked, “Why couldn’t we drive it out?” He replied, “Because you have so little faith. I tell you the truth, if you have faith as small as a mustard see, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.””
Jesus was not happy that His disciples failed to drive out a demon. Jesus simply rebuked the demon, demonstrating the power of faith through speaking God’s word and the boy was healed. When they asked why they were unable, Jesus explained that all work in ministry is by faith. They lacked faith. Faith comes by hearing God’s word and Jesus was explaining truth to empower them to do the impossible through their trust in His word!
Thankful for our Powerful Savior: “Ah, Sovereign Lord, You have made the heavens and the earth by Your great power and outstretched arm. Nothing is too hard for You!” (Jeremiah 32:17) “Then the word of the Lord came to Jeremiah: “I am the Lord, the God of all mankind. Is anything too hard for Me?”” (Jeremiah 32:26) (NO!!!)
