Scripture reading for February 15th: Numbers 30-33
Key Scriptures: Numbers 33:50-53 “On the plains of Moab by the Jordan across from Jericho the Lord said to Moses, “Speak to the Israelites and say to them: “When you cross the Jordan into Canaan, drive out all the inhabitants of the land before you. Destroy all their carved images and their cast idols, and demolish all their high places. Take possession of the land and settle in it, for I have given you the land to possess.”
The Israelites were given specific instructions about possessing the land that God had promised them. They were to destroy all the idols and idolatrous places of worship and drive out the inhabitants completely. They must be separate and cleanse the land from all evil and wickedness lest they be ensnared by the idolatry and sensuality of the Canaanites.
Thanksgiving: We are thankful today that God is holy and calls His people to a holy and separated life that He might dwell in their presence and they might enjoy Him forever and ever! “Do not be yoked together with unbelievers. For what do righteousness and wickedness have in common? Or what fellowship can light have with darkness? . . .As God has said, “I will live with them and walk among them, and I will be their God, and they will be My people.” (2 Corinthians 6:14, 16)
