Tag: Isaiah 52:10-11
Scripture reading for July 12th: 1st Corinthians 5
Key Scriptures for over-comers: 1st Corinthians 5:9-11 “I have written you in my letter not to associate with sexually immoral people–not at all meaning the people of this world who are immoral, or the greedy and swindlers, or idolaters. In that case you would have to leave the world. But now I am writing you that you must not associate with anyone who calls himself a brother but is sexually immoral or greedy an idolater or a slanderer, a drunkard or a swindler. With such a man do not even eat.”
The morals of people in the world are not in line with God’s word, even though each person has the witness of conscience. God has sent His people into the world to reach out to the unsaved and immoral with the good news of the Gospel. Once worldly people are born again their behavior must soon change. Those that claim to be ‘brothers’ in the Lord must not live like those in the world in any area of life. If they continue in the ways of the world, those others in the church must not continue to associate with them. This is protection for the believer and warning to those in known sin.
Observations for over-comers: Believers must live separated lives while reaching out to the lost of the world. Watch over each other in the church to overcome Satan’s traps. “The Lord will lay bare His holy arm in the sight of all the nations, and all the ends of the earth will see the salvation of our God. Depart, depart, go out from there! Touch no unclean thing! Come out from it and be pure, you who carry the vessels of the Lord.” (Isaiah 52:10-11)
