Ignorance is not bliss!

Scripture reading for March 29th: Luke 19

Key Scriptures: Luke 19:41-44 “And when He drew near and saw the city, He wept over it, saying, “Would that you, even you, had known on this day the things that make for peace! But now they are hidden from your eyes. For the days will come upon you, when your enemies will set up a barricade around you and surround you and hem you in on every side and tear you down to the ground, you and your children within you, because you did not know the time of your visitation.”

As Jesus rode into Jerusalem on Palm Sunday, He stopped to weep over the city and His own people. He had taught and demonstrated the kingdom of God in healing, forgiving sins, casting out demons, and teaching with authority. He revealed God His Father and His heart for the lost sons and daughters through kindness and compassion and demonstrating God’s love. But His own people refused to receive Him and gain true peace with God. Instead, they would charge Him falsely, beat Him, crucify Him and denounce Him as an imposter. Jesus wept over the city and its people, prophetically pronouncing the coming darkness of judgment and scattering that would result from their blind ignorance and refusal to believe. The Light of the World was hidden from those who refused to see. There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth by those who will miss His coming again!

Luke 19:9-10 “And Jesus said to him, “Today salvation has come to this house, since he also is a son of Abraham, for the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.”

Faith confession and prayer: Lord Jesus, I weep with You over those who are lost and missing the time of visitation and grace. Give me grace and compassion to seek them out and share Your Word. Open their eyes by the Holy Spirit today, before its too late!

Jeremiah 9:1 “Oh that my head were waters, and my eyes a fountain of tears, that I might weep day and night for the slain of the daughter of my people.”
