Scripture reading for April 8th: John 2, Psalm 70, Proverbs 8
Key Scriptures: John 2:6-10 “Now there were six stone water jars there for the Jewish rites of purification, each holding twenty or thirty gallons. Jesus said to the servants, “Fill the jars with water.” And they filled them up to the brim. And He said to them, “Now draw some out and take it to the master of the feast.” So they took it. When the master of the feast tasted the water now become wine, and did not know where it came from (though the servants who had drawn the water knew), the master of the feast called the bridegroom and said to him, “Everyone serves the good wine first, and when the people have drunk freely, then the poor wine. But you have kept the good wine until now.”
Jesus, at the insistence of His mother, gave instructions to servants at a wedding. They had run out of wine and this would bring embarrassment to the groom and bridal party. Jesus told them to take six stone 20 – 30 gallon stone jars and fill them with water. He then told them to draw some out and give it to the master of ceremonies. To his surprise, this wine was the best yet served! This miracle brought joy and was a sign of Jesus’ glory!
Faith Confession: Thank You Jesus for this recorded miracle and sign revealing Your glory and our hope for the future! The best is yet to come at the wedding supper of the Lamb!
Psalm 70:4 “May all who seek You rejoice and be glad in You! May who love Your salvation say evermore, “God is great!””
