Scripture reading for February 21st: Numbers 14-17, Mark 10
Key Scriptures: Mark 10:41-45 “And Jesus called them to Him and said to them, “You know that those who are considered rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their great ones exercise authority over them. But it shall not be so among you. But whoever would be great among you must be your servant, and whoever would be first among you must be slave of all. For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve and to give His life a a ransom for many.”
Jesus settled a dispute among the disciples about how to obtain seats of honor in the coming kingdom. He explained that the world system exercised authority in a dominating manner. But His followers would humbly serve others. Greatness would come through serving and Jesus, Himself, was going to set the prime example of giving His own life for mankind.
Numbers 14:18-19 “‘The Lord is slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love, forgiving iniquity and transgression, but he will by no means clear the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children, to the third and the fourth generation.’ Please pardon the iniquity of this people according to the greatness of your steadfast love, just as you have forgiven this people, for Egypt until now.””
Prayer: Lord, give me a servant’s heart like Moses and Jesus, willing to serve others with my life. Amen.
