Thankful for Scripture Examples!
Scripture reading for November 24th: 1st Corinthians 7-11
Key Scriptures: 1st Corinthians 10:6-10 “Now these things occurred as examples to keep us from setting our hearts on evil things as they did. Do not be idolaters as some of them were; as it is written: “The people sat down to eat and drink and got up to indulge in pagan revelry.” We should not commit sexual immorality, as some of them did–and in one day twenty-three thousand of them died. We should not test the Lord, as some of them did–and were killed by snakes. And do not grumble, as some of them did–and were killed by the destroying angel.”
Paul stated that all the past writings and examples recorded in Old Testament Scripture was there as examples for New Testament believers. These negative examples teach us the consequences of rebellion and unbelief. They stand as warning and encouragement to live a righteous and holy life and avoid the death and destruction that come from practicing known sin!
Thankful for Scripture examples: “They traveled from Mount Hor along the route to the Red Sea, to go around Edom. But the people grew impatient on the way; they spoke against God and against Moses, and said, “Why have you brought us up out of Egypt to die in the desert? There is no bread! There is no water! And we detest this miserable food!” Then the Lord sent venomous snakes among them; they bit the people and many Israelites died.”
