“I Am” the God Who Carries You

Scripture reading for July 10: Isaiah 46:3-4 “”Listen to Me, O house of Jacob, all the remnant of the house of Israel, who have been borne by Me from before your birth, carried from the womb; even to your old age I am He, and to gray hairs I will carry you. I have made, and I will bear; I will carry and will save.””

I love to read Isaiah because of all the revelations of God that He gives to His people. In this passage we are told that God carried His people, Israel, before their were born. He also carried them while they were in the womb and brought them to safe delivery. Now, God reveals that He is still carrying them in their old age and with their gray-haired heads. He is telling them that He has been with them, is with them, and will be with them no matter what time of life they are in or what circumstances befall them!

God states that He made them and will bear them along life’s path. When they have no strength or ability, He will carry them. When they face enemies stronger than them, He will protect them and save them. God is not far away and aloof from those He created. God is actively involved in their lives. These are comforting truths to those going through trials.

The aging process is particularly challenging with our bodies slowing down and coming under attack from sickness and decay. God tells us not to fear in any time of our lives because as His children, we can trust Him. He is with us for our good and blessing. He can heal our diseases and carry us when we lack ability to carry ourselves. As God asked the Israelites to listen to Him, are you listening and hearing your heavenly Father?

Prayer: Father God, thank You for assuring Your children that You are with us. Forgive us for living in fear of sickness, disease and even old age. We are encouraged by Who You are as our Creator, Sustainer, and the God Who carries us through each stage of life! Amen.
