Tag: pierced for our transgressions
Scripture reading for August 14th: Isaiah 52-56
Key Scriptures: Isaiah 53:4-6 “Surely He took up our infirmities and carried our sorrows, yet we considered Him stricken by God, smitten by Him and afflicted. But He was pierced for our transgressions, He was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was upon Him, and by His wounds we are healed. We all, like sheep, have gone astray, each of us has turned to his own way; and the Lord has laid on Him the iniquity of us all.”
Seven hundred years before Jesus Christ came to earth, Isaiah recorded this prophetic message from the heart of our compassionate Father God. The Servant Son of God would come to earth. He would be rejected by men–even those of God’s people. He would take up the sins, sorrows and infirmities of those who had rejected Him and bear their punishment through crushing wounds and cruel punishment. These wounds would bring about healing for all who would believe!
Thankful for the ultimate Savior: “When evening came, many who were demon-possessed were brought to Him, and He drove out the spirits with a word and healed all the sick. This was to fulfill what was spoken through the prophet Isaiah: “He took up our infirmities and carried our diseases.” (Matthew 8:16-17)
