Jesus Christ is above all!
Scripture reading for October 18th: John 3, Psalm 58, Proverbs 22
John 3: 30-36 “He (Jesus) must increase, but I (John the Baptist) must decrease. He Who comes from above is above all. He who is of earth belongs to the earth and speaks in an earthly way. He Who comes from Heaven is above all. He bears witness to what he has seen and heard, yet no one receives his testimony. Whoever receives his testimony sets his seal to this, that God is true. For He Who God has sent utters the Words of God, for He gives the Spirit without measure. The Father loves the Son and has given all things into His hand. Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life; whoever does not obey the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God remains on him.”
John the Baptist was Jesus’ cousin and the one chosen by God to prepare the way for the kingdom of heaven ushered in by Jesus Christ, God’s only Son. John had the privilege of baptizing Jesus as Jesus began His ministry. John saw the Holy Spirit come down on Jesus and heard the Father commend His Son. John testified that Jesus was the “Lamb of God, Who takes away the sins of the world.” John proclaimed that Jesus was much greater than him and would baptize with the Holy Spirit and fire. John knew that Jesus was the supreme Son of God, loved by the Father and King of all. As King, all judgment belonged to Jesus. John called all to repent and believe on Jesus the Son and receive eternal life. Failure to believe and obey would bring eternal wrath.
Psalm 58: 10-11 “The righteous will rejoice when he sees the vengeance; he will bathe his feet in the blood of the wicked. Mankind will say, “Surely there is a reward for the righteous; surely there is a God Who judges on earth.”
Prayer: Father God, Thank You for the amazing Gift of Your Son! We have received grace and love beyond our understanding. Thank You for John the Baptist’s testimony of Jesus Christ. His simple message of repentance and faith bringing eternal life is the Gospel You gave to all who would believe. Fill me with Your Holy Spirit afresh today and empower me to preach the Good News of the Spirit Giver!
Proverbs 22:12 “The eyes of the Lord keep watch over knowledge, but He overthrows the words of the traitor.”
Set apart to preach!
Scripture reading for March 22nd: Galatians 1, Psalm 58, Proverbs 27
Galatians 1: 11-16 “For I would have you know, brothers, that the Gospel that was preached by me is not man’s gospel. For I did not receive it from any man, nor was I taught it, but I received it through a revelation of Jesus Christ. For you have heard of my former life in Judaism, how I persecuted the church of God violently and tried to destroy it. And I was advancing in Judaism beyond many of my own age among my people, so extremely zealous was I for the traditions of my fathers. But when He Who had set me apart before I was born, and Who called me by His grace, was pleased to reveal His Son to me, in order that I might preach Him among the Gentiles, . . .”
Paul had a unique encounter with the risen Christ. He learned the Gospel, not from men, but from Christ Himself. He described it as a ‘revelation of Jesus Christ.’ Paul had persecuted the church, imprisoning those who followed Jesus and he even stood in agreement with their death in the case of Stephen. He felt that he was doing God a favor in his zeal for the traditions of Judaism. But Jesus appeared to him, and revealed His calling and the purpose of his life. Jesus set him apart–before birth! Jesus called him by His amazing grace, offering him forgiveness of sins and showing him eternal life. Jesus sent Paul to preach to the Gentiles and confirmed the Word with signs and power. Ask our Lord to confirm your calling and His plan for your life today. Jesus is our great reward!

Prayer: Father God, thank You for Your calling and setting me apart to preach Your Gospel. Thank You for those, like Paul, that spoke truth into my life and lived in the power of the Holy Spirit. Thank You for the trials and testing that have deepened my faith and trust in Your love and goodness. Empower me today to fulfill Your will and purposes for my life and in those to whom you send me.
Proverbs 27:21 “The crucible is for silver, and the furnace is for gold, and a man is tested by his praise.”
Healed instantly by Jesus!
Scripture reading for August 9th: Hosea 4-6, Psalm 58, Matthew 17
Matthew 17: 14-18 “And when they came to the crowd, a man came up to Him and kneeling before Him, said, “Lord, have mercy on my son, for he is an epileptic and he suffers terribly. For often he falls into the fire, and often into the water. And I brought him to Your disciples, and they could not heal him.” And Jesus answered, “O faithless and twisted generation, how long am I to be with you? How long am I to bear with you? Bring him here to Me.” And Jesus rebuked the demon, and it came out of him, and the boy was healed instantly.”
Matthew told the story of Jesus, Peter, James and John returning from the Mount of Transfiguration. There was a crowd gathered and Jesus was approached humbly by a man whose son was an epileptic and had seizures that sought to destroy him. This man had gone to the other disciples but they were unable to help the child. Jesus rebuked them and the people for their lack of faith and twisted thinking. Even though Jesus had taught His disciples to pray for the sick and believe God for miracles, these men were not believing God to see the needed healing. Jesus simply rebuked the evil spirit behind the sickness and immediate healing was the result. Oh that as followers of Jesus, we walked continuously by faith in God’s Holy Word and the knowledge of God’s compassionate heart to heal and deliver.
Hosea 6:2-3 “After two days he will revive us; on the third day He will raise us up, that we may live before Him. Let us know, let us press on to know the Lord; His going out is sure as the dawn; He will come to us as the showers, as the spring rains that water the earth.”
Prayer: Father God, forgive me when I only see life through my own eyes and don’t know You or Your Word as I should. As a follower of Jesus Christ, fill me with Your Holy Spirit and grace to truly heal and deliver those suffering under Satan’s bondage and darkness. Send the rain of Your Spirit to water the earth and bring reward to the righteous and escape from judgment.

Third day hope!
Scripture reading for August 7th: Hosea 4-6, Psalm 58, Matthew 17
Key Scriptures: Matthew 17:22-23 “As they were gathering in Galilee, Jesus said to them, “The Son of Man is about to be delivered into the hands of men. And they will kill Him, and He will be raised on the third day.” And they were greatly distressed.”
Jesus shared a deep truth with His disciples concerning His coming appointment with death. He shared how He would be delivered into the hands of sinful men and be killed. He also shared that on the third day after this terrible event, He would be raised from the dead. This truth surely concerned these disciples. Scripture records “And they were greatly distressed.” Hope would come alive on the third day!

Faith confession and prayer: Lord Jesus, thank You for Your truthfulness with Your disciples concerning coming events. Your mercy through Your death and resurrection on the third day brings hope of eternal reward.

The Millennial Reign!
Scripture reading for December 27th: Revelation 20
Key Scriptures for over-comers: Revelation 20:4-6 “I saw thrones on which were seated those who had been given authority to judge. And I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded because of their testimony for Jesus and because of the Word of God. They had not worshiped the beast or his image and had not received his mark on their foreheads or their hands. They came to life and reigned with Christ a thousand years.”
Over-comers are revealed to John as sitting on thrones judging during the thousand year reign of Christ on earth. They were martyrs during the time of tribulation because of their refusal to worship the beast or his image, and they would not take his mark! Now they are rewarded with authority and given thrones of judgment!
Observations for over-comers: Over-comers keep their eyes on the prize and finish the race with anticipation! “The righteous will be glad when they are avenged, when they bathe their feet in the blood of the wicked. Then men will say, “Surely the righteous still are rewarded; surely there is a God who judges the earth.” (Psalm 58:10-11)
“Sovereign Lord, How Long?”
Scripture reading for December 7th: Revelation 6
Key Scriptures for over-comers: Revelation 6:9-11 “When he opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of those who had been slain because the word of God and the testimony they had maintained. They called out in a loud voice, “How long, Sovereign Lord, holy and true, until You judge the inhabitants of the earth and avenge our blood?” Then each of them were given a white robe and they were told to wait a little longer, until the number of their fellow servants and brothers who were to be killed as they had been was completed.”
John had watched the Lamb on the throne open the seven sealed scroll he had been given. The fifth seal brought a revelation of souls under the altar who had been slain on earth for their testimony of Jesus. These souls were alive and calling out to God: “How long will it be until you judge the earth and avenge our blood?” They were told to wait until the full number of martyrs would be killed on earth!
Observations for over-comers: Jesus Christ, our “Over-comer”, revealed that there would be martyrs on earth during the last days but He would bring justice! “The righteous will be glad when they are avenged, when they bathe their feet in the blood of the wicked. Then men will say, “Surely the righteous still are rewarded; surely there is a God who judges the earth.” (Psalm 58:10-11)
