Describing the Indescribable One!
Scripture reading for November 29th: Ezekiel 45-48, Revelation 1
Key Scriptures: Revelation 1:12-16 “Then I turned to see the voice that was speaking to me, and on turning I saw seven golden lampstands, and in the midst of the lampstands One like a Son of Man, clothed with a long robe and with a golden sash around his chest. The hairs of His head were white, like white wool, like snow. His eyes were like a flame of fire, His feet were like burnished bronze, refined in a furnace, and His voice was like the roar of many waters. In His right hand He held seven stars, from His mouth came a sharp two-edged sword, and His face was like the sun shining in full strength.”
Jesus Christ appeared in a vision to John while he was worshiping on the Lord’s day while in prison on the Isle of Patmos. John’s response was to fall down as a dead man at the sight of such glory and majesty. He at one time had put his head on Jesus’ chest while they reclined at the last Passover. Here John attempts to describe the resurrected and glorified Jesus with the best metaphors he can come up with. How do you describe the Indescribable?
Ezekiel 48:35 “The circumference of the city shall be 18,000 cubits. And the name of the city from that time on shall be, The Lord Is There.”
Prayer: Lord, I look forward to seeing Jesus and living in the eternal city, the New Jerusalem, known by the Name: The Lord Is There.”
