Scripture reading for February 26th: Leviticus 21-23, Hebrews 8
Key Scriptures: Hebrews 8:1-5 “Now the point in what we are saying is this: we have such a High Priest, One who is seated at the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in heaven, a Minister in the holy places, in the true tent that the Lord set up, not man. For every high priest is appointed to offer gifts and sacrifices; thus it is necessary for this priest also to have something to offer. Now if He were on earth, He would not be a priest at all, since there are priests who offer gifts according to the law. They serve a copy and shadow of the heavenly things.”
The law and priesthood of the old covenant were merely types and shadows of actual things in heaven. But God chose to send His only Son to become the ultimate and final High Priest of a different order and a New Covenant. Our Priest, Jesus, is seated at God’s right hand, having completed His work of sacrifice by offering His own blood on the actual Mercy Seat of heaven! His gift is beyond comparing!
Faith Confession and Prayer: I accept the finished work of Jesus Christ, the offering of His body and blood, to pay for the penalty of my sins. I am thankful He is alive and seated in heaven, praying for me! Help me as Your child to never profane Your Holy Name.
Leviticus 22:1-2 “And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, “Speak to Aaron and his sons so that they abstain from the holy things of the people of Israel, which they dedicate to Me, so that they do not profane My Holy Name: I am the Lord.”
Scripture reading for October 25th: Mark 12-16
Key Scriptures: Mark 16:19-20 “After the Lord Jesus had spoken to them, He was taken up into heaven and He sat a the right hand of God. Then the disciples went out and preached everywhere, and the Lord worked with them and confirmed His word by the signs that accompanied it.”
The Lord Jesus gave final instructions to His disciples about their mission and His presence with them to accomplish the assigned work. They were to go into all the world and preach the Gospel and signs would accompany them. All who believed would be saved and those who refused to believe would be condemned! It was as simple as that. After these instructions, Jesus Christ was taken up to heaven and seated at God’s right hand, the position of highest honor! The disciples would offer God’s enemies a chance to become children!
Rejoicing in Jesus Christ: “The Lord says to my Lord: “Sit at My right hand until I make your enemies a footstool for Your feet.” The Lord will extend your might scepter from Zion; You will rule in the midst of your enemies.” (Psalm 110:1-2)
Scripture reading for June 21st: Psalms 79-83
Key Scriptures: Psalm 80:17-19 “Let Your hand rest on the Man at Your right hand, the Son of Man You have raised up for Yourself. Then we will not turn away from You; revive us, and we will call on Your Name. Restore us, O Lord God Almighty; make Your face shine upon us, that we may be saved.”
The psalmist prayed for God to bring revival and restoration to His people. The key was the Man at God’s right hand! This person was a “Son of Man” that God raised up for His purposes! The psalmist desired God’s smiling face to look upon him and all God’s people. This would result in salvation! What a prayer a thousand years before Jesus Christ came to earth!
Thankful for God’s Man at His right hand: “For the law appoints men who are weak; but the oath, which came after the law, appointed the Son, who has been made perfect forever. The point of what we are saying is this: We do have such a high priest, who sat down at the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in heaven, and who serves in the sanctuary, the true tabernacle set up by the Lord, not by man.” (Hebrews 7:28-8:1)
