Scripture reading for December 21st: Habakkuk 1-3, Revelation 17
Key Scriptures: Revelation 17:15-17 “And the angel said to me, “The waters that you saw, where the prostitute is seated, are peoples and multitudes and nations and languages. And the ten horns that you saw, they and the beast will hate the prostitute. They will make her desolate and naked, and devour her flesh and burn her up with fire, for God has put it into their hearts to carry out His purpose by being of one mind and handing over their royal power to the beast, until the words of God are fulfilled.”
One of the seven angels who had the last seven bowls of God’s wrath came to John to help him understand what he was seeing. He explained the vision of the prostitute seated on many waters. The waters were the nations and the prostitute was the evil world system of Babylon who had ensnared the nations with idolatry and immorality. God was using this evil world system and the people who were caught in it to fulfill His purposes during the final judgment.
Habakkuk 3:12-14 “You marched through the earth in fury; You threshed the nations in anger. You went out for the salvation of Your people, the salvation of Your anointed. You crushed the head of the house of the wicked, laying him bare from thigh to neck. You pierced with his own arrows the heads of his warriors, . . “
Prayer: Lord, You alone know the end from the beginning! Thank You for revealing Your great plan of salvation for Your people and punishment for the wicked. We wait for Your Word to be fulfilled! Amen.
