Tag: sing and make music
Scripture reading for April 21st: 1st Chronicles 23-27
Key Scriptures: 1st Chronicles 25:1, 6 “David, together with the commanders of the army, set apart some of the sons of Asaph, Heman and Jeduthun for the ministry of prophesying, accompanied by harps, lyres and cymbals. Here is a list of the men who performed this service: . . .All these men were under the supervision of their fathers for the music of the temple of the Lord, with cymbals, lyres and harps, for the ministry at the house of God.”
King David was a psalmist and made special provisions for prophesying and music in God’s house. He chose men who were skillful and trained to lead in the giving of praise and thanksgiving before the Lord in His house! Joyful music is proper for God’s trained priests!
Thankful for God’s music in our souls: “Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery. Instead, be filled with the Spirit. Speak to one another with psalms, hymns and spiritual songs. Sing and make music in your heart to the Lord, always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.” (Ephesians 5:18-20)
