Scripture reading for July 18th: Psalm 27-29, 1st Corinthians 10
Key Scriptures: 1st Corinthians 10:8-11 “We must not indulge in sexual immorality as some of them did, and twenty-three thousand fell in a single day. We must not put Christ to the test, as some of them did and were destroyed by serpents, nor grumble, as some of them did and were destroyed by the Destroyer. Now these things happened to them as an example, but they were written down for our instruction, on whom the end of the ages has come.”
Paul reminded the Corinthians that God had clearly judged His people for their past sins. This included sexual immorality, testing or tempting God, and grumbling against God and His appointed leaders. Their history was recorded in God’s Word as examples for us living in the last days under the New Covenant in Jesus Christ. Grace is not a license to sin. Christ is coming soon for a holy Bride!
Psalm 29:1-2 “Ascribe to the Lord, O heavenly beings, ascribe to the Lord glory and strength. Ascribe to the Lord the glory due His Name; worship the Lord in the splendor of holiness.”
Prayer: Lord, keep me from besetting sins of flesh and spirit. Thank You for the examples written down for me and all who love You. We want to worship You in the splendor of holiness. Amen.
