Beloved friends and family,
As we journey onward and upward to the heavenly city, a new year awaits us. Our Heavenly Father already knows the end from the beginning (He has 2020 vision!) and has declared our victory in His unchanging Word! He delights in His people and is abounding in compassion towards all, even the lost. His promises are all “Yes!” and “Amen!” and sealed with the sacrifice of His own Son, Jesus Christ He waits in anticipation to see His children walking in faith and loves it when we give Him no rest in declaring His promises and asking for fulfillment in our time and our day.
Isaiah 62:6-7 “On your walls, O Jerusalem, I have set watchmen; all the day and all the night they shall never be silent. You who put the Lord in remembrance, take no rest, and give Him no rest until He establishes Jerusalem and makes it a praise in the earth.”
3 John 4 “I have no greater joy than to hear that My children are walking in the Truth.”
Revelation 22:12-14 “Behold, I am coming soon, bringing My recompense with Me, to repay each one for what he has done. I am the Alpha and Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End.” Blessed are those who wash their robes, so that they may have the right to the tree of life and that they may enter the city by the gates.”
Revelation 22:17 “The Spirit and the Bride say, “Come.” And let the one who is thirsty come; let the one who desires take the water of life without price.”
This year I have chosen the 5-day reading plan located at www.BibleClassMaterial.com. I will select a key passage from Old and New Testaments each day that will take us chronologically through the whole Bible. Please read with me five days and rest or catch up on weekends. Apply the Word by declaring your faith in His unchanging promises. Allow your robes to be washed and made clean. Join the Bride, filled with the Holy Spirit, in calling to the lost, “Come.” Prepare for the sudden arrival of the Lord! Onward to the gates of the heavenly city, our eternal home and great reward!
In His Love and Compassion, John Morse
P.S. Have a blessed New Year and join me in reading chronologically through the whole Bible in this coming year. (260 readings in Old and New Testaments reading five days a week.) We start January 2nd!
Scripture reading for July 21st: Isaiah 21-23
Prophets in the Old Testament were often likened to watchmen. Watchmen were stationed on the city wall to give early warning of approaching danger. They also functioned as an alarm clock to the people of the city. They kept track of the time and announced the arrival of a new day. When someone awoke in the night, they could call out to the watchman and inquire about coming morning.
“Someone calls to me from Seir, “Watchman, what is left of the night? Watchman, what is left of the night?” The watchman replies, “Morning is coming, but also the night. If you would ask, then ask; and come back yet again.” (Isaiah 21:11-12)
As I read these verses, I could not help think about our day and time. Many are asleep and living in darkness. They don’t know what time it is prophetically and are unaware of the danger of the coming time. Those who are aware of the coming day are encouraged be watchmen and warn those who are asleep of the coming day!
The question: “What is left of the night?” was asked of Jesus in a slightly different form. The disciples asked Him when He would come and what would be the signs of His coming and the end of the age. (Matthew 24:3) Jesus Christ taught that no man would know the day or the hour of His coming again. (Matthew 24:38) He also taught that many would be caught unaware and unprepared for that day! (Matthew 24:37-41) His coming would be like a “thief in the night” that the owner of the house was unprepared for! (Matthew 24:42-44)
The watchman’s answer is revealing: “The morning is coming, also the night”. Many today are not aware that the “day” that is coming will be “night” for them! They are living in perpetual darkness and are not ready for the arrival of the “Son”. They are living in deception and are in danger of being cast into outer darkness for eternity! Are you living in such a way that others are warned or are you setting a bad example by living in the darkness?
“Wake up, O sleeper, rise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you.” “Be very careful, then, how you live–not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil.” (Ephesians 5:14-15)
