The multitude of the Redeemed!

Scripture reading for December 10th: Revelation 7

Key Scriptures: Revelation 7:9-12 “After this I looked, and behold, a great multitude that no one could number, from every nation, from all tribes and peoples and languages, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed in white robes, with palm branches in their hands, and crying out with a loud voice, “Salvation belongs to our God, Who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb!” And all the angels were standing around the throne and around the elders and the four living creatures, and they fell on their faces before the throne and worshiped God, saying, “Amen! Blessing and glory and wisdom and thanksgiving and honor and power and might be to our God forever and ever! Amen.”

In Revelation 7:1-8 John recorded the sealing of the 12,000 from each of the twelve tribes of Israel with the seal of God. The seal reflects God’s ownership of those willingly sealed and they are set apart for the work of God during the great tribulation. God will at this time deal with the nation of Israel for their rejection of the Messiah. They will recognize Jesus Christ as the Son of God. The number 12 is the number of the church of the Old Testament–twelve tribes, and the New Testament–twelve Apostles. After this sealing, John looks again and beholds a great uncountable multitude from the nations of the earth who are clothed in white and worshipping before the throne. When John was asked by one of the elders where these had come from, he answered, “Sir, you know.” John was told that these had come out of the great tribulation and were saints washed by the blood of the Lamb.”

Revelation 7:13-14 “Then one of the elders addressed me, saying, “Who are these, clothed in white robes, and from where have they come?” I said to him, “Sir, you know.” And he said to me, “These are the ones coming out of the great tribulation. They have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.”

Faith confession and prayer: Father God, thank You for Your amazing grace to the nation of Israel and to the Gentiles, all of whom are sinners who have broken Your laws and gone against Your lordship. Thank You for the white robes of Your righteousness given by grace through faith to those who repent and believe. Give me grace today to stand true to You and proclaim the Good News of a merciful Savior! I will worship You forever and ever!

Revelation 17:17 “For the Lamb in the midst of the throne will be their Shepherd, and He will guide them to springs of living water and God will wipe away every tear from their eyes.”

Rejoice! Shout! Sing!

Scripture reading for October 5th:  Habakkuk 2-3, Zephaniah 1-3

Key Scriptures:  Zephaniah 3:14-15, 17  “Sing, O Daughter of Zion shout aloud, O Israel!  Be glad and rejoice with all your heart,  O Daughter of Jerusalem!  The Lord has taken away your punishment, He has turned back your enemy.  The Lord, the King of Israel, is with you;  never again will you fear any harm. . . .The Lord your God is with you, He is mighty to save.  He will take great delight in you, He will quiet you with His love, He will rejoice over you with singing.”

Zephaniah saw a day coming when God would rescue His people and end their time of punishment.  He would defeat their enemy and be revealed as their great King!  Fear would be removed forever and God’s Presence would comfort and enfold His people as He took great delight in them and rejoiced over them!  What a beautiful picture of prophetic encouragement!  Believers await that day when the Great King is revealed and He surrounds them with His great love and joy!

Rejoicing in eternal joy:  “And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Now the dwelling of God is with men, and He will live with them.  They will be His people and God Himself will be with them and be their God.  He will wipe every tear from their eyes.  There will be nor more death, or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.”  (Revelation 21:3-4)
