Thankful for powerful prophetic acts!
Scripture reading for September 1st: Jeremiah 50-52; Lamentations 1
Key Scriptures: Jeremiah 51:61-14 “He (Jeremiah) said to Seraiah, “When you get to Babylon, see that you read all these words aloud. Then say, ‘O Lord, You have said You will destroy this place, so that neither man nor animal will live in it; it will be desolate forever.’ When you finish reading this scroll, tie a stone to it and throw it into the Euphrates. Then say, ‘So will Babylon sink to rise no more because of the disaster I will bring upon her. And her people will fall.'”
Jeremiah instructed Seraiah to read the scroll with His judgments on Babylon over the land and its people. This was God’s warning to them before judgment. In this warning, God called His people to flee Babylon and promised them protection. He was to tie a rock on the scroll and throw it into the Euphrates river as a prophetic act. The judgment happened 70 years later as Daniel read Jeremiah’s prophecy and interpreted the handwriting on the wall. It will happen a final time at the end of the ages before God’s final judgment on Babylon, the human-centered world system.
Angelic Prophetic Confirmation: “Then a mighty angel picked up a boulder the size of a large millstone and threw it into the sea, and said: “With such violence the great city of Babylon will be thrown down, never to be found again.” (Revelation 18:21)
