Anointed with the Holy Spirit and Power!

Scripture reading for April 27th:  1st Samuel 14, Psalm 124, Acts 10

Key Scriptures:  Acts 10:38-42  “. . how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power.  He went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him.  And we are witnesses of all that He did both in the country of the Jews and in Jerusalem.  They put Him to death by hanging Him on a tree, but God raised Him on the third day and made Him to appear, not to all the people but to us who had been chosen by God as witnesses, who ate and drank with Him after He rose from the dead.  And He commanded us to preach to the people and to testify that He is the One appointed by God to be judge of the living and the dead.”

Peter proclaimed the miraculous ministry of Jesus Christ.  Jesus was anointed with the Holy Spirit and power to perform miracles and heal.  His disciples and apostles who walked with Him were witnesses of all He did.  Jesus was put to death by crucifixion but raised from the dead on the third day by God’s power.  His witnesses were commanded by Jesus to preach this Good News to all.  Jesus is appointed by God to judge the living and the dead!

Faith confession and prayer:  I believe in Jesus Christ of Nazareth, anointed by God with the Holy Spirit and power for miracles and healing and forgiveness of sins.  Open doors to preach the Good news today!

1st Samuel 14:6 “Jonathan said to the young man who carried his armor, “Come, let us go over to the garrison of these uncircumcised.  It may be that the Lord will work for us, for nothing can hinder the Lord from saving by many or by few.”

Psalm 124:8  “Our help is in the Name of the Lord, Who made heaven and earth.”

Thankful to be redeemed from the curse!

Scripture reading for December 1st:  Galatians 1-4

Key Scriptures: Galatians 3:10-13 “All who rely on observing the law are under a curse, for it is written: “Cursed is everyone who does not continue to do everything written in the Book of the Law.”  Clearly no one is justified before God by the law, because, “The righteous will live by faith.”  The law is not based on faith; on the contrary, “The man who does these things will live by them.”  Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us, for it is written: “Cursed is everyone who is hung on a tree.”

The Jews had relied on the Law of God for years and sought to obey but failed again and again.  Paul explained the reason why:  “All who rely on observing the law are under a curse.”   This is because the law can only reveal sin, it can not cure it.  Righteousness comes by faith in Jesus Christ and His perfect obedience of the Law and then offering Himself to be hung on a cross.  His act of loving obedience redeemed sinners from the curse of trying to obey the law!

Rejoicing in Christ’s Redemption:  “Cursed is the man who does not uphold the words of this lay by carrying them out.”  Then all the people shall say, “Amen!”  (Deuteronomy 27:26)  “Be sure to bury him that same day, because anyone who is hung on a tree is under God’s curse.”  (Deuteronomy 21:23)
