Rejoicing in the Victory!

Scripture reading for November 27th:  1st Corinthians 12-15

Key Scriptures:  1st Corinthians 15:54-57  “When the perishable has been clothed with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality, then the saying that is written will come true:  “Death has been swallowed up in victory.”  “Where, O death, is your victory:  Where, O death, is your sting?”  The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law.  But thanks be to God!  He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ!”

Death has been the great ‘swallower’ of mankind since the sin of Adam.  The grave has swallowed up all of mankind as it is “man is destined once to die”.  (Hebrews 9:27) (With a two exceptions in Enoch and Elijah) But Jesus Christ paid the penalty of death for the sins of all mankind.  All who put faith in His sacrifice will have the victory that He enjoyed by His obedience–resurrection from the grave!  The great ‘swallower’ is now overcome by resurrection life through our Lord Jesus Christ!  Hallelujah!

Rejoicing in Victory:  “On this mountain He will destroy the shroud that enfolds all peoples, the sheet that covers all nations; He will swallow up death forever.  The Sovereign Lord will wipe away the tears from all faces; He will remove the disgrace of His people from all the earth.  The Lord has spoken.”  (Isaiah 26:7-8)
