The power of faith!
Scripture reading for January 29th: Exodus 21-23, Matthew 21
Key Scriptures: Matthew 21:20-22 “When the disciples saw it, they marveled, saying, “How did the fig tree wither at once?” And Jesus answered them, “Truly, I say to you, if you have faith and do not doubt, you will not only do what has been done to the fig tree, but even if you say to this mountain, ‘Be taken up and thrown into the sea,’ it will happen. And whatever you ask in prayer, you will receive, if you have faith.”
Jesus had cursed the fig tree for having no fruit. The disciples noted how quickly it had withered, and asked how this could be. Jesus informed them that they also would have this kind of authority if they simply had faith. Even greater obstacles would be removed by believing prayer. The Old Testament Scriptures revealed this kind of authority given to God’s people as they obeyed.
Exodus 23:23-26 “When My angel goes before you and brings you to the Amorites and the Hittites and the Perizzites and the Canaanites, the Hivites and the Jebusites, and I blot them out, you shall not bow down to their gods nor serve them, nor do as they do, but you shall utterly overthrow them and break their pillars in pieces. You shall serve the Lord your God, and He will bless your bread and your water , and I will take sickness away from among you. None shall miscarry or be barren in your land; I will fulfill the number of your days.”
Prayer: Lord, thank you for your promises of answered prayer. Help me today to walk in faith and appropriate all your promised blessing for Your glory. Amen.
