Test the spirits!
Scripture reading for November 22nd: Ezekiel 27-30, 1 John 4
Key Scriptures: 1st John 4:1-4 “Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, for many false prophets have gone out into the world. By this you know the Spirit of God: every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God, and every spirit that does not confess Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist, which you heard was coming and now is in the world already. Little children, your are from God and overcome them, for He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.”
John encouraged the church not to believe every spirit that spoke through false teachers and prophets. Every spirit should be tested. What they spoke concerning Jesus Christ would reveal whether they were from God or the devil. Those confessing that Jesus Christ did not come in the flesh were not from God, but were actually the antichrist spirit of the devil. Believers need not fear, they were from God and the Holy Spirit dwelled within them. Satan stands judged by God!
Ezekiel 28:16 “In the abundance of your trade you were filled with violence in your midst, and you sinned; so I cast you as a profane thing from the mountain of God, and I destroyed you, O guardian cherub, from the midst of the stones of fire.”
Prayer: Lord, thank You for the Holy Spirit living in me to keep me in Your truth, helping me daily to test the spirits speaking through men in this world. Amen.
