All Glory to the King of the Ages!

Scripture reading for June 25th:  1st Kings 6, 2nd Chronicles 3, 1st Timothy 1

Key Scriptures:  1st Timothy 1:15-17  “The saying is trustworthy and deserving of full acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am the foremost.  But I received mercy for this reason, that in me, as the foremost, Jesus Christ might display His perfect patience as an example to those who were to believe in Him for eternal life.  To the King of the ages, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory forever and ever.  Amen!”

Paul, the most experienced of sinners, knew one glorious truth about Jesus Christ:  “Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners. .”  Paul had persecuted believers and had them arrested and even put some to death, thinking he was doing God a favor.  Paul explained that God had shown him mercy because he had acted in ignorance and unbelief.  God also was using him as an example of His perfect mercy and patience that others might have hope.  You might say that Paul’s extremely sinful past example and his new changed life gave a picture of God’s rich mercy!  God was building His Church (House) by transforming sinners!  All glory to the eternal King of the ages!

1st Kings 6:7  “When the house was built, it was with stone prepared at the quarry, so that neither hammer nor axe nor any tool of iron was heard in the house while it was being built.”

Vs. 19  “The inner sanctuary he prepared in the innermost part of the house, to set there the ark of the covenant of the Lord.”

Faith confession and prayer:  Lord Jesus, thank You for saving me, a sinner, and using Your Word and Spirit to prepare me as Your sanctuary.  Help me to be an example of Your perfect mercy!

Worship the King Eternal!

Scripture reading for September 24th:  1 Timothy 1, Psalm 41, Proverbs 6

Key Scriptures: 1st Timothy 1:15-17 “The saying is trustworthy and deserving of full acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am foremost.  But I received mercy for this reason, that in me, as the foremost, Jesus Christ might display His perfect patience as an example to those who were to believe in Him for eternal life.  To the King of the ages, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory forever and ever.  Amen.”

Paul is moved to worship his King, Jesus Christ, as he explains to Timothy that Jesus’ mission of saving sinners had spared his own life.  Paul was the foremost of sinners in that he in self-righteous anger, had sought to put Christ’s followers in prison and even to death.  But Jesus demonstrated God’s great patience by saving Paul and giving him the gift of eternal life.  This should call all who are saved to worship and adoration, now and throughout eternity!

Faith Confession:  I know Jesus Christ came into the world to save sinners, of which I am also foremost.  I thank God for His great patience and grace in giving me the gift of eternal life!  I will worship Him now and forever!

Psalm 41:13 “Blessed be the Lord, the God of Israel, from everlasting to everlasting!  Amen and Amen!”

King of the Ages!

Scripture reading for September 24th:  Song of Songs 4-6, 1st Timothy 1

Key Scriptures:  1st Timothy 1:15-17  “The saying is trustworthy and deserving of full acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am the foremost.  But I received mercy for this reason, that in me, as the foremost, Jesus Christ might display His perfect patience as an example to those who were to believe in Him for eternal life.  To the King of the ages, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory forever and ever. Amen.”

Paul stated the mission of our Lord Jesus simply:  Jesus came into the world to save sinners.  Paul was a murderer and blasphemer of Christ before his encounter with Jesus.  Because of Christ’s perfect patience, Paul was saved and became a follower and worshiper of Christ, praising the “King of the ages.

Song of Songs 5:2, 10 “I slept, but my heart was awake.  A sound!  My Beloved is knocking.” . . . “My Beloved is radiant and ruddy, distinguished among ten thousand.”

Prayer:  Lord Jesus, King of the ages, thank You for Your perfect patience with me, a sinner.  I want to follow You and worship You forever.  Amen.

Sunday Rest and Reflection: 1Timothy 1-3

Dear Friends,

Greetings on another day of rest!  We need to begin a new week with God’s people in worship of our great King!  We can rest in His love and celebrate His victory!  It is a command of Scripture to not forsake the assembling of ourselves together for regular worship, prayer, and sharing of community.  May your day be one of worship, rest and soul refreshing!

Today we must also continue reading if we are to finish our trek through the Bible.  The passage for today is Paul’s letter to Timothy.  Timothy is a young pastor, mentored by Paul, who was then pastoring the church at Ephesus.  Paul wrote to him to encourage him and instruct him in basic pastoral leadership.  Here are some of my favorite verses from our reading today.

“Here is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners–of whom I am the worst.  But for that very reason I was shown mercy so that in me, the worst of sinners, Christ Jesus might display His unlimited patience as an example for those who would believe on Him and receive eternal life.  Now unto the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory for ever and ever. Amen.” 1 Timothy 1:15-17

” I urge then, first of all that requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone–for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness.  This is good, and pleases God our Savior, who wants all men to be saved and come to a knowledge of the truth.  For there is one God and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, who gave himself as a ransom for all men–the testimony given in its proper time.” 1 Timothy 2:1-5

“Beyond all question, the mystery of godliness is great:  He appeared in a body; was vindicated by the Spirit, was seen by angels, was preached among the nations, was believed on in the world, was taken up in glory.” 1st Timothy 3:16

May the Lord bless you and keep you this day and each day this coming week!

In His Love, Pastor John
