Faith and touch work together

Scripture reading for February 15th:  Mark 6, Psalm 34, Proverbs 3

Key Scriptures: Mark 6:53-56  “When they had crossed over, they came to land at Gennesaret and moored to the shore.  And when they got out of the boat, the people immediately recognized Him and ran about the whole region and began to bring the sick people on their beds to wherever they heard He was.  And wherever He came, in villages, cities, or countryside, they laid the sick in the marketplaces and implored Him that they might touch even the fringe of His garment.  And as many as touched it were made well.”

As Jesus’ reputation spread among the people, crowds gathered wherever He went.  They came to find mercy, healing and wholeness.  They were brought by friends in faith.  They reached out to touch Jesus by faith and implored His mercy.  Those who touched even His garment were healed!  All of them!

Faith’s confession:  I believe that I can touch Jesus’ heart now by asking in faith for His healing mercy.  I ask with expectancy, trusting in His willingness and power to heal me.  (Action Step:  Ask if you can help a sick or hurting friend to take their burden to Jesus.)

Psalm 34:17-18  “When the righteous cry for help, the Lord hears and delivers them out of all their troubles.  The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit.”

Jesus is Here!

Scripture reading for February 15th:  Leviticus 27, Numbers 1-3, Mark 6

Key Scriptures: Mark 6:54-56   “And when they got out of the boat, the people immediately recognized Him and ran about the whole region and began to bring the sick people on their beds to wherever they heard He was.  And wherever He came, in villages, cities, or countryside, they laid the sick in the marketplaces and implored Him that they might touch even the fringe of His garment.  And as many as touched it were made well.”

Jesus’ reputation as a healer spread rapidly across the region.  Mark records again an incident about touching Jesus’ garment and healing occurring.  In this case, all who touched Him were healed.  People ran and brought the sick to wherever Jesus was and sought Jesus with desperation and purpose.  Their faith was rewarded each time!  The Book of Numbers instructs God’s people to gather around the Tent of Meeting, where God’s holy presence was found.

Numbers 2:1-2  “The Lord spoke to Moses and Aaron, saying, “The people of Israel shall camp each by his own standard, with the banners of their fathers’ houses.  They shall camp facing the tent of meeting on every side.”

Prayer:  Lord, thank You for Your holy presence that brings blessing and healing to Your people.  Today, I allow You to camp in my heart and touch me with Your healing grace.  Amen.

If I can just touch His cloak!

Scripture reading for February 23rd: Mark 6:30-56, Psalms 40:1-10, Proverbs 10:11-12

Mankind is hurting deeply because of sin and it’s consequences.  Sin brings a darkness over the soul that clouds life and leaves us restless and dissatisfied.  Often, in our search for satisfaction, we selfishly get into bondage and satanic powers enslave us with addictions and fears.  Sickness attacks our bodies and suffering marks our lives.  Hope is elusive as many of the cures that are promised don’t really fix the problems.

Jesus came into a world just like ours.  He saw the hurts and pains and came to help those who were hurting and enslaved.  As He preached repentance, He reached out to touch people and bring healing.  “When they had crossed over, they landed at Gennesaret and anchored there.  As soon as they got out of the boat, people recognized Jesus.  They ran throughout that whole region and carried the sick on mats to wherever they heard He was.  And wherever He went–into villages, towns or countryside–they placed the sick in the marketplaces.  They begged Him to let them touch even the edge of His cloak, and all who touched were healed.” (Mark 6:53-56)

Jesus brought real healing and real hope.  When people responded in faith, they were healed!  When the people recognized that it was Jesus, they responded by running to get the sick and bring them to Him.  There was a desire to want to make contact with Him that drove them to desperation.  They begged for the opportunity to touch His garment.  The record states that “all who touched were healed.”

Jesus Christ is the same today as then.  Jesus is still compassionate and looking to heal the sick and deliver the bound.  He is available to all who will seek Him out by faith.  Those who have repented of their sins have been given authority to go into all the world with the message of repentance and forgiveness.  They are to lay hands on the sick and God works with them to bring healing.  (Mark 16:15-17)  If you have a need, reach out today and touch the Lord.  If you are a disciple of Jesus, reach out today and touch someone in His name that needs healing!  God is still healing hurting people!  All who reach out to touch Him will receive according to their faith!
