Tag: Daniel prayed
Scripture reading for September 20th: Daniel 4-8
Key Scriptures: Daniel 6:10-11 “Now when Daniel learned that the decree had been published, he went home to his upstairs room where the windows opened toward Jerusalem. Three times a day he got down on his knees and prayed, giving thanks to his God, just as he had done before. These men went as a group and found Daniel praying and asking God for help.”
Because of jealousy, the administrators of Persia set a trap for Daniel, now in his eighty’s. They had the king make a decree banning all prayer except to him. Daniel, however, lived a life of prayer and continued to honor God and give Him thanks for His wisdom and protection. Daniel asked God for advice and help. This infuriated the administrators who then went to the king and forced the king to bring the decreed punishment–the Lion’s Den! We all know how that worked out–the administrators became breakfast after the lions fasted dinner (Daniel)!
Thankful for a praying Savior: “After Jesus said this, He looked toward heaven and prayed: “Father, the time has come. Glorify Your Son, that Your Son may glorify You”. . . . .”I will remain in the world no longer, but they are still in the world, and I am coming to You. Holy Father, protect them by the power of Your Name–the Name You gave Me–so that they may be one as We are One.” (John 17:1, 11)
