Tag: John 5:2-27
Scripture reading for October 28th: Ezekiel 13-15, Psalm 136, John 5
Key Scriptures: John 5:24-27 “Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever hears My Word and believes Him Who has sent Me has eternal life. He does not come into judgment, but has passed from death to life. Truly, truly I say to you, an hour is coming, and is now here, when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God, and those who hear will live. For as the Father has life in Himself, so He has granted the Son also to have life in Himself. And He has given Him authority to execute judgment, because He is the Son of Man.”
Jesus spoke the truth plainly to those accusing Him of breaking the Sabbath by healing and calling God His Father. He claimed equality with the Father in having eternal life in His own Person. He also claimed authority to execute judgment, something reserved for God alone. Hearing Jesus and believing the Father Who sent Him results in escape from judgment (death), and entry into life eternal. Jesus emphasized these truths by double-stating “Truly, truly!” He speaks these truths today to us afresh! Amen! Amen!
Psalm 136:1 “Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good, and His steadfast love endures forever.”
Faith confession and prayer: Lord Jesus, I believe You are the Son of God, sent by the Father as Savior of all who will believe. Thank You for Your good gift of Eternal Life and Your steadfast love for ever and ever! I repent of my sins and rest in Your promise.
Ezekiel 14:6 “Therefore say to the house of Israel, Thus says the Lord God: Repent and turn away from your idols, and turn away your faces from all your abominations.”
