Day 5–Blameless in His Presence!

Scripture reading for June 19: Jude 24-25 “Now to Him Who is able to keep you from stumbling and to present you blameless before the presence of His glory with great joy to the only God, our Savior, through Jesus Christ our Lord, be glory, majesty, dominion, and authority, before all time and now and forever. Amen.”

I love to give blessings to those I minister to. These blessings are powerful revelations of God’s amazing love to His people. Faith works by love so that faith is increased as we receive these words of blessing from God’s heart as our Father. Blessings also give us vision through declaration and vision keeps us focused forward on God’s plans. So it is good to declare these blessings out loud over your own life and family. As our Father loves to bless His children, so pastors and fathers of children on earth should bless God’s children and declare God’s love and promises over them.

Jude’s blessing declares that God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ are able to keep us from stumbling and present us before God’s glorious presence as blameless and full of joy. This will be the highest blessing that we ever receive. We who have sinned and are worthy of judgment and eternal punishment in the fires of hell are granted deliverance from our earned fate. By grace through faith in the Lord Jesus, we are declared righteous and blameless in His sight. Our own works count for nothing. Christ’s righteousness is our covering and robe as we stand or kneel in His presence, overflowing with thanksgiving and joy. All glory and majesty and dominion and authority are given to Jesus Christ now and forever and ever. Amen! It is finished!

This blessing brings us great peace as faith-filled first responders. Even if we stumble in our personal lives or in service to others, our Lord will keep us moving towards the goal of eternal joy in God our Father’s presence. We can joyfully serve now and live a life that exalts our Lord and Savior, sharing His blessing everywhere we go.

Prayer: Father God, thank You for keeping me from stumbling and picking me up when I have been tripped up. Thank You for vision beyond the troubles and trials of this life to the glorious presence that You will present to us when our work here is done! Amen.

Contend for the Faith!

Scripture reading for December 20: Jude

“Dear friends, although I was very eager to write to you about the salvation we share, I felt I had to write and urge you to contend for the faith that was once for all entrusted to the saints.” Jude 3

Jude was the half-brother of Jesus Christ.  His letter was written to the church as a wave of false teachers were enticing believers to sexual immorality and idolatry. (Jude 4)   He planned to write about their common salvation, but instead wrote a letter of encouragement and warning about the need to contend earnestly for the faith! We are in a spiritual conflict and the enemy of our souls is trying to steal our faith!

Jude points God’s people back to God’s past dealings with His redeemed people.  God delivered the Israelites from slavery in Egypt.  They all experienced God’s grace but not all believed and they were destroyed in the desert.  (Jude 5)  Lot and his children were delivered from Sodom, but God destroyed these towns because they refused to repent of sexual immorality and perversion (homosexual behavior). (Jude 7)  They were destroyed by fire and serve as examples for us today of eternal fire that will consume the enemies of God.

Jude’s strong warnings were meant to help those in the church to resist these false teachers and stay on the path of righteousness.  Jude gave positive instruction to the church to help them.  They were to remember the teaching of the Apostles who had warned about the scoffers of the last times who would seek to divide the church.  (Jude 18-19)

The best way Jude suggested to build yourself up in your faith was to pray in the Holy Spirit.  By doing this, a believer could keep himself in the love of  God and wait patiently for Jesus Christ to come.  While waiting, each believer should be merciful to those who are doubting or weak in their faith and show mercy to others by snatching them from the fires of hell.  They must be careful to keep their faith and focus on Jesus.  He alone could keep them from falling.

“To Him who is able to keep you from falling and present you before His glorious presence without fault and with great joy–to the only God our Savior be glory, majesty, power and authority, through Jesus Christ our Lord, before all ages, now and forevermore! Amen!” Jude 24-25

Contend earnestly for the faith!

Scripture reading for December 1st: Jude

Key Scriptures: Jude 1-4 “Jude, a servant of Jesus Christ and brother of James, to those who are called, beloved in God the Father and kept for Jesus Christ: May mercy, peace, and love be multiplied to you. Beloved, although I was very eager to write to you about our common salvation, I found it necessary to write appealing to you to contend for the faith that was once for all delivered to the saints. For certain people have crept in unnoticed who long ago were designated for this condemnation, ungodly people, who pervert the grace of our God into sensuality and deny our only Master and Lord, Jesus Christ.”

Jude and James were half-brothers of Jesus Christ. Neither of them mention this in their letters, but rather Jude refers to himself as a servant of Jesus Christ. Jude was originally going to write the letter to further explain the wonderful salvation that the church enjoyed through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ. But certain false teachers had crept unnoticed into the church and began to pervert the pure Gospel of God’s grace and drew people away from Jesus Christ into sensuality and denial of the Master. This letter was now a call to the church to war–contending earnestly for the faith once for all delivered to the saints. It’s a good fight and Jude reminded them that others had contended for the faith before them. They could build themselves up in their most holy faith through praying in the Holy Spirit and continuing to do God’s work of mercy.

Jude 17-21 “But you must remember, beloved, the predictions of the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ. They said to you, “In the last time there will be scoffers, following their own ungodly passions.” It is these who cause divisions, worldly people, devoid of the Spirit. But you, beloved, building yourselves up in your most holy faith and praying in the Holy Spirit, keep yourselves in the love of God, waiting for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ that leads to eternal life.”

Faith confession and prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for giving me the gift of the Holy Spirit and calling me to Your family and church. Help me to be strong in my faith by praying in the Holy Spirit and showing mercy by preaching Your powerful Gospel. Snatch the lost from the fire and bring glory to Your Name!
