Open door? or Closed door?
Scripture reading for December 5th: Esther 7-10, Revelation 3
Revelation 3:8-12 “”Behold I have set before you an open door, which no one is able to shut. I know that you have but little power, and yet you have kept My Word and have not denied My Name. Behold, I will make those of the synagogue of Satan who say that they are Jews and are not, but lie–behold, I will make them come and bow down before your feet, and they will learn that I have loved you. Because you have kept My Word about patient endurance, I will keep you from the hour of trial that is coming on the whole world, to try those who dwell on earth. I am coming soon. Hold fast what you have so that no one may seize your crown. The one who conquers I will make him a pillar in the temple of My God. Never shall he go out of it, and I will write on him the Name of My God, and the name of the city of My God, the New Jerusalem, . . .””
Jesus explained to the church at Philadelphia that He had set before them an open door, which no one would be able to shut. Although these believers had little strength, they had been faithful to Jesus’ Word and had not denied His Name. Their patient endurance had brought rewards of deliverance from the hour of trial. In Jesus’ next message to the church at Laodicea, however, Jesus told them that He was knocking on their door, closed to His entrance! He implored them to open the door so He could come in and fellowship with them. Which kind of door is Jesus finding or providing in your life?
Revelation 3:20-21 “Behold! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and eat with him, and he with Me. The one who conquers, I will grant him to sit with Me on My throne, as I also conquered and sat down with My Father on His throne.”“
Prayer: Father God, thank You that you always seek the welfare of Your people and speak peace and blessings for encouragement. You also warn those on a dangerous path. I have chosen to open the door of my heart to You and desire daily fellowship at Your table. Help me today to hear Your voice and remain faithful even though I often feel I have little strength. I will walk in faith through Your open door.
Esther 10:3 “For Mordecai the Jew was second in rank to King Ahasuerus, and he was great among the Jews and popular with the multitude of his brothers, for he sought the welfare of his people and spoke peace to all his people.”
Over-coming is Jesus’ example!

Key Scriptures for over-comers: Revelation 3:19-22 “Those I love I rebuke and discipline. So be earnest, and repent. Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door; I will come in and eat with Him, and he with Me. To him who overcomes, I will give the right to sit with Me on My throne, just as I over-came and sat down with My Father on His throne. He who has an ear; let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.”
Jesus, Himself, overcame this sinful world, the devil’s schemes and temptations, and even death, hell, and the grave! He stands as an example for all who trust in Him. Jesus desires a personal relationship with each of His disciples. He is not pushy or dominating, but patiently knocks at the door of each heart and calls out their name. If they hear Him and respond to His call, He will come in and have a meal. This teaching requires ears that want to hear and respond!
Observations for over-comers: Being filled with the Spirit of Jesus Christ gives us the heart of an over-comer! “You, O Lord, keep my lamp burning; my God turns my darkness into light. With Your help, I can advance against a troop; with My God I can scale a wall.” (Psalm 18:28-29)
