Praying for peace!
Scripture reading for August 24th: Psalm 122-125, Ephesians 2
Key Scriptures: Ephesians 2:17-20 “And He came and preached peace to you who were far off and peace to those who were near. For through Him we both have access in one Spirit to the Father. So then you are no longer strangers and aliens, but you are fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God, built on the foundation of the apostles, and prophets. Christ Jesus Himself being the cornerstone, . . .”
Paul explained that Jesus Christ came to bring peace to Jew and Gentile by making the gift of the Holy Spirit available to all. The Holy Spirit gives us access to the Father. He marks us as belonging to God’s family and reveals and forms Christ in us. Jesus Christ is the cornerstone of this new “House” called the “Church of Jesus Christ.” Because of the peace of the brothers, all know we belong to Jesus.
Psalm 122:6-9 “Pray for the peace of Jerusalem! May they be secure who love you! Peace be within your walls and security within your towers! For my brothers and companion’s sake I will say, “Peace be within you!” For the sake of the house of the Lord our God, I will seek your good.”
Prayer: Lord Jesus, thank You for bringing peace to all through the sacrifice of Your body and blood. I pray that today You will reveal Your peace through me and all who belong to Your house! Amen.
