Our amazing Designer!
Scripture reading for July 1st: Psalm 135-139
God knows us better than we realize! He has searched us out from before the foundation of the world! (Ephesians 1:4) He knows where we are right now and what we are thinking about. He knows our hopes, joys, fears, and dreams. He is familiar with our ways and even knows what we will say before we say it! (Psalm 139:1-4)
This knowledge was beyond the psalmist’s ability to understand and know. It made him want to think about hiding from God. Adam and Eve tried that and God found them anyway. Jonah tried that and boarded a ship to Tarsus. God located Jonah in the belly of the fish; trying to hide did not work for him either. There is no place we can go where God is not! (Psalm 139:7-12) Let’s just face the bare facts–God sees it all! (Hebrews 4:13)
I studied DNA molecules in biology classes in college. These amazing strands of protein contain a code that spells out exactly who we are. Each of us is unique. These strands are twisted together in precise order and sequence like a woman’s knitting! Over a billion connections must be made from two strands of DNA, half from the mother, half from the father! We are fearfully and wonderfully made! (Psalm 139:16)
God thinks about us all the time! He has wonderful thoughts about His children that He has formed! These thoughts are precious to the Psalmist and us today! They are so numerous that if we could number the grains of sand, God’s thoughts would be more! What amazing thoughts to meditate on!
The psalmist concludes by asking God to search him again and test him. He needs God’s help to know if there is any offensive way in his heart. The last two verses make up a good prayer. Take a moment and seek the Lord with the understanding that this psalm gives! Listen for some of those thoughts that God has towards you! May God bless you today!
“Search me, O god, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.” Psalm 139:23-24
Fearfully and wonderfully made!
Scripture reading for June 30th: Psalm 135-139
God knows us better than we realize! He understood us from before the foundation of the world! (Ephesians 1:4) He knows where we are right now and what we are thinking about. He knows our hopes, joys, fears, and dreams. He is familiar with our ways and even knows what we will say before we say it! (Psalm 139:1-4) Even when he knows the dirt in our life, he still loves us and is actively drawing us to heal and cleanse us!
This knowledge is beyond the psalmist’s ability to understand. It makes him want to think about hiding from God. Adam and Eve did that. Jonah tried that and boarded a ship to Tarsus. God located Jonah in the belly of the fish. There is no place we can go where God is not! He knows the darkness as well as the light. (Psalm 139:7-12) Let’s just face the bare facts–God sees it all! (Hebrews 4:13)
We were knit together in our mother’s womb! The amazing strands of protein called DNA contain a code that spells out exactly who we are. These strands are twisted together in precise order and sequence like a woman’s knitting! Over a billion connections must be made from two strands of DNA. Half come from the mother and half from the father! God even knows the number of days we will live here on earth. They are written down in His book! (Psalm 139:16)
God thinks about us all the time! These thoughts are precious to the Psalmist and us today! They are so numerous that if we could number the grains of sand, God’s thoughts would be far more! David thought about such things over 3000 years ago!
The psalm concludes with the psalmist asking God to slay the wicked! There are some anxious thoughts behind this request. He concludes by asking God to search him and test him. He needed God’s help to know if there was any offensive way in his heart. Take a moment and seek the Lord with the understanding that this psalm gives. Listen for some of those thoughts that God has towards you! God bless you today!

His Enduring Love!
Scripture reading for July 1st: Psalms 135-139
“I will bow down toward your holy temple and will praise your name for your love and faithfulness, for you have exalted above all things your name and your word. When I called, you answered me; you made me bold and stouthearted.” (Psalm 138:2-3)
The psalmist, David, was not near God’s temple but bowed down toward it in reverence and longing. He desired to praise God with all of his heart. As he thought about God, God’s love and faithfulness were the source of his praise. David had experienced God’s love and faithfulness personally in the midst of many trials of his early life. God was with him as he tended his father’s sheep in the wilderness, giving him victory over the lion and the bear. God’s faithfulness enabled him to stand up to Goliath, the Philistine giant, and bring him down. (1st Samuel 17:45)
God’s love and faithfulness are revealed in His name and His word! David stated that God had exalted His name and word above all things! God’s name is above every name and every ‘god’. His name is holy and those who know his name personally and act in that name have supernatural abilities. God’s word is forever settled in the heavens. Faith comes by hearing God’s word and true faith acts. When we know God personally by name and know His powerful word, God’s love and faithfulness become reality to us and we call on Him and He answers!
“May all the kings of the earth praise you, O Lord, when they hear the words of your mouth. May they sing of the ways of the Lord, for the glory of the Lord is great.” (Psalm 138:4-5)
When we are filled with God’s love and His word, our desires begin to line up with His desires. Notice how David’s prayer in this psalm goes up for the nations and their leaders. David wants them to know God’s words, to worship Him, and to bring Him glory!
“Though I walk in the midst of trouble, You preserve my life; You stretch out your hand against the anger of my foes, with Your right hand you save me. The Lord will fulfill His purpose for me; Your love, O Lord, endures forever–You will not abandon the works of your hands.” (Psalm 138:7-8) Through heartfelt worship, faith rises with boldness. David confidently states his trust in God’s enduring love!
