Scripture reading for December 22nd: Revelation 15
Key Scriptures: Revelation 15:2-4 “And I saw what appeared to be a sea of glass mingled with fire–and also those who had conquered the beast and its image and the number of its name, standing beside the sea of glass with harps of God in their hands. And they sing the song of Moses, the servant of God, and the song of the Lamb, saying, “Great and amazing are Your deeds, O Lord God the Almighty! Just and true are Your ways, O King of the nations! Who will not fear, O Lord, and glorify Your Name? For You alone are holy. All nations will come and worship you, for Your righteous acts have been revealed.””
In the Old Testament book of Exodus, chapter 15, Moses and the Israelites sang what became known as the “Song of Moses” after God delivered them from the Egyptian army by drowning the army in the sea. Here in a vision, John saw a sea of glass mingled with fire–and a great multitude of people who had conquered the beast standing beside the sea and they sang this song of victory and worship, praising God for all His righteous deeds. God had brought this multitude through the great tribulation and trials of earth to His heavenly dwelling to live with Him forever. Their hearts overflowed with worship and thanksgiving!
Exodus 15:11-13 “Who is like You, O Lord, among the gods? Who is like You majestic in holiness, awesome in glorious deeds, doing wonders?” You stretched out your right hand; the earth swallowed them. You have led in Your steadfast love the people whom You have redeemed; You have guided them in Your strength to Your holy abode.”
Faith confession and prayer: Father God, You alone are worthy of all worship and praise because of Your mighty deeds of deliverance for your people. Help me to proclaim Your deeds and offer of salvation to the nations that all may worship You and glorify Your Name.
Revelation 15:5-8 “After this I looked, and the sanctuary of the tent of witness in heaven was opened, and out of the sanctuary came the seven angels with the seven plagues, clothed in pure, bright linen, with golden sashes around their chests. And one of the four living creatures gave to the seven angels seven golden bowls full of the wrath of God Who lives forever and ever, and the sanctuary was filled with smoke from the glory of God and from His power, . . .”
