All Heaven Rejoices!
Scripture reading for December 25: Revelation 19
“After this I heard what seemed to be the loud voice of a great multitude in heaven, crying out, “Hallelujah! Salvation and glory and power belong to our God, for His judgments are true and just; for He has judged the great prostitute who corrupted the earth with her immorality, and has avenged on her the blood of His servants.” Once more they cried out, “Hallelujah! The smoke from her goes up forever and ever.” And the twenty-four elders and the four living creatures fell down and worshiped God Who was seated on the throne, saying, “Amen. Hallelujah!” Revelation 19:1-4
John now hears a great multitude in heaven crying out loudly in worship of God. They ascribe to Him salvation, power and glory and praise Him for His judgments. They marvel at the just judgment of the great prostitute who had corrupted the earth and its inhabitants with immorality. They are praising God for judging and avenging justly the murder of the saints. They worship God for the eternal smoke that ascends from the place of the wicked. They are joined by the twenty-four elders and four living ones in agreement and worship.
“Then I heard what seemed to be the voice of a great multitude, like the roar of many waters and like the sound of mighty peals of thunder, crying out, “Hallelujah! For the Lord our God the Almighty reigns. Let us rejoice and exult and give Him the glory, for the marriage of the Lamb has come, and His Bride has made herself ready; it was granted her to clothe herself with fine linen, bright and pure”–for the fine linen is the righteous deeds of the saints. And the angel said to me, “Write this: Blessed are those who are invited to the marriage supper of the Lamb.”” Revelation 19:6-9
A further cause for worship and rejoicing comes as God the Almighty reigns and decrees that the time for the marriage of the Lamb has arrived. The Bride is the great multitude of redeemed clothed in fine linen. John was told the fine linen was the righteous acts of the saints. John was told to write down a decree from God: “Blessed are those invited to the marriage supper of the Lamb.” This blessing was an invitation for all to come for the banquet was now ready! However, not all willingly come.
Do you trust God to have true and just judgments? Have you forgiven all who have wronged you and entrusted them to God for mercy instead of judgment? Are you among the ‘blessed’ who are invited and have accepted the invitation to the wedding banquet?
Prayer: Father God, thank You for the gift of righteousness through faith in Your Son, the Lamb of God. Thank You for insight into Your just and true judgments and Your great mercy. Use me to extend the Gospel invitation to those needing Your blessing of eternal life in Your family. Amen.
From the ends of the earth: singing!
Scripture reading for July 23: Isaiah 24-27
Isaiah broke forth in a dissertation about the coming “day of the Lord”. The watchman of Israel was given a description of that day to warn the people of Israel to be ready for what was coming. God’s people are set apart from this day of wrath and welcome it with singing and joy. (Isaiah 24:14-16) The people of earth without a knowledge of the Lord and faith in Him are filled with terror! (Isaiah 24:11-13)
Let’s focus on those who know the Lord! Out of this vivid description of the terror for the lost comes bright rays of hope for those of faith! Isaiah heard shouts of joy for the glory and majesty of the Lord arising from the East and West! He heard singing coming from the islands of the sea and the ends of the earth! God was bringing His people together! (Isaiah 24:14-16) God would reign in their midst on Mt. Zion and His glory would radiate through and in His people! (Isaiah 24:23)
In Isaiah 25, Isaiah broke into praise for His fulfillment of God’s Word! God spoke His plans from ancient days and then brought them to pass! He humbled the proud and exalted His humble people! He cared for the poor and needy and defeated all their enemies! Isaiah saw the Lord preparing a banquet of rich foods for all peoples! On Mt. Zion, God would destroy the shroud that enfolded all peoples and swallow up the ‘swallower’ of His people! Death would be defeated and tears wiped away!
The Apostle Paul quoted these truths in 1st Corinthians 15:50-57 to describe the resurrection body that would be given to each believer at the coming of Jesus Christ! They were referred to by the Apostle John in his vision from the island of Patmos in Revelation 21:1-5 as he described the new heavens and new earth as the believer’s eternal home! Revelation 19:6-9 describes the wedding supper of the Lamb! When we receive Holy Communion, we are proclaiming that Jesus’ death destroyed the shroud of death over us and our hope of eating at that great banquet!
“You will keep in perfect peace him whose mind is steadfast, because he trusts in You. Trust in the Lord forever, for the Lord, the Lord, is the Rock eternal.” (Isaiah 26:3-4) Put your trust in Jesus Christ again today! He is our Rock eternal! From your end of the earth let songs of worship resound and rest in Jesus!
The Blessed Bride!

John hears the announcement from heaven of the arrival of the King of kings, accentuated by roaring of heavenly voices and thunder claps. The multitude was worshiping the Lord and rejoicing that the wedding supper of the Lamb had finally come. The Bride was made ready, dressed in pure white linen! John was told to write of the promised blessedness of all those invited to take part!
Zechariah 2:10-11 “Sing and rejoice, O daughter of Zion, for behold, I come and I will dwell in your midst, declares the Lord. And many nations shall join themselves to the Lord in that day, and shall be My people. And I will dwell in your midst, and you shall know that the Lord of hosts has sent Me to you.”
Prayer: Lord, what a day that will be when we Your Bride see You coming! May our clothing be bright white and we dwell with You forever! Amen.
